    alignment problems

I have been dealing with similar issues with our Freightliner M2112 since we took delivery of this rig as a new build. 5 sets of steers in 270,000 miles and countless alignments, sets of shocks etc. I think we finally fixed it, but it's only been a month, so I am holding my breath. As you did...

    Landstar Express

I have been with LS for almost 4 years and am generally ok with the company. In these tough economic conditions, Darwinism is at work big time and only the strong and smart will endure. I started this thread to urge other LS drivers to get online and contact the company to complain about the...

    apu no ac or fan

assuming you checked the appropriate fuses. Look at the underbunk assembly. The evaporator coil may have iced up, blocking airflow. Icing results from improper gas pressure in system. check all the plumbing the gas goes thru looking for oily greenish-yellow signs of gas leak. Does the compressor...

    Inverter or Generator?

We ran a small Titan ceramic space heater with our Onan all winter and did fine. Air conditioning will come from the roof top unit. Onan runs off our diesel tanks. Tried doing this with a Honda 2000 watt generator on the last truck, but it was a bit noisy, and I was not comfortable carrying...

    Switch to Digital TV

Unless you are fortunate enough to have a satellite system in your truck, next year will bring us all questions about how to upgrade our truck's TV system to receive the new digital over-the-air signal. An adapter box will be available and I understand the Feds have a $40 coupon available to...

    Landstar Forum

There is a forum for Panther and FedEx, how about one for Landstar? This old Con-Way Now team got out 7 months before the sale of CWN because of extreme unhappiness with a certain dispatcher there. Now two years with Landstar and we are suffering the same crunch as everyone else. Loads are...

    our truck fire and insurance

May 2 at about 0230 we experienced a failure of the leading dually axle that caused tires on each side to explode like bombs and catch fire. Just a week earlier I had a PM done in Salt Lake City. The truck and its cargo were a total loss. We salvaged most of our personal goods from the cab, but...

Diesel price versus cost, or whose $20 is that?

RE: Diesel price versus cost, or whose $20 is that A great reminder, thanks. We are in Portland Oregon, where today diesel is $2.71. There is no tax advantage to buying fuel here even if it is cheaper. PLUS we get charged 13 cents a mile tax to drive on their roads!! Figure 9 mpg and add that...

    Re: Conneticutt???

We have stayed at TA on I-84 just north of the I-691 junction I think it's exit 28. On I-95 there are three possibilities west to east: exit 12 area is a welcome center. Okay for trucks, has McDonald and good bathrooms. Exit 40 is Pilot. Near by Milford has some excellent restaurants. Exit 56...

    What's your "other" ride?

Wife's car is 2002 Saturn LW200 we bought new. It has 38,700 miles on it and will be paid off (GM 0%) in August 07. My ride is a 1995 Lincoln Town Car, with not one flake of rust on it. I put 0 miles on it in 2006, about 250 in 2005. Has 148,000 miles on it and gets 26 mpg on the highway.

The way I found my installer was through Pony Pack themselves. They keep a list of places with experience. I called around and ended up picking the closest one to my home. You will be visiting the installer several times so pick one conveniently close. Good luck.

    Need more fridge/freezer

We added freezer capacity with a $99 dorm size refrigerator. Turned up the cold all the way and it would hold a lot of frozen dinners. Use the ones in the lower part during the first week. Truck's inverter never bothered it, but we do have a large inverter. Finally took it out because we needed...

It is possible to misinstall the serpentine belt, as you state. The Pony Pack manual is careful to guide us to put the belt in all the way on the alternator pulley and out all the way on the compressor pulley. That lines up the splines on the belt with those on the pulleys. Other than that, I am...

Odd that you ask about the belts. I have changed the belts. The big serpentine belt was changed when I repaired the heater manifold problem. The small water pump belt was replaced a week or two before the oil blowout. Are you thinking there is a connection? My plan of action is to take a week...
