I was just thinking that.... Felt very much like "the good old days" when I just saw Sally's email telling us what this week's settlement is going to be.... Kinda felt like I did 20 yrs ago when I started hot shotting.... Thank you CRE TEAMMATES.
Well truth be told settlements are a far cry from days of the past when we were getting $1.10 to 1.20 on a sprinter load
It's about $300.00 less on a 1,000 mile load... But that's in no way a reflection of Team Crossroads it is just the erosion the business has suffered...Murray and team always try for best rate possible and we... Team canada are very happy with Crossroads...:)

No real comparison here. Back when you were getting $1.10 - $1.20 that was including a very inflated fuel surcharge because of fuel being over double the price we pay now. I figure I can gross 10 cents per mile less then 4-5 years ago and still have more cash profits then I had back then. And, I'll have a lower overall gross 1099 now, with close to the same write offs. Less taxes to be paid out. JMO.

I was actually getting $1.05 base rate plus that hi fuel surcharge so I figured my base rate is down $.20 on average

I am running less harder, less longer, more light loads, home much more often and feeling like my hard work and professional attitude are again being rewarded. Whether or not one can compare today with anytime in the past is a mute point. Seems like I'm starting to feel like I can safely say I can survive again in this business which has soured so much.
I again am making more than I ever did with my Masters degree, or as a L.E.O.
Hope I haven't jinxed it!
And I have always appreciated my Canadian neighbors.... even though they ban smoking in their casinos!! LOL

But you are correct the rates haven't really dropped all that low it's just that it looks naked without the fuel surcharge that was ultra high at one time

Try this math when fuel surcharge was $.25 my fuel cost was about $.17 so I was putting in my pocket eight cents a mile in my fuel was 100% paid now with the lower cost of fuel I'm having to take money out of my pocket

The raises of my per diem have seemed to have more than offset that. As well as finally having a viable alternative to a sprinter that is more comfortable, handles better and costs half as much per PM.
