If you're in a cargo van, making 1200 a week and home every night, don't knock it. It's not GREAT, but it's alright for what appears to be relatively local work.

Why is it a 60/40 if you own the van?

I might be able to answer that one. Sounds like a courier company, and it's a 60/40 commission with the company he's contracting for. When I hired on way back when Dinosaurs roamed the Earth at the courier company I was with for 20 years, it was a 55/45 split and I got the 55.

Is that bad 80/20 on 90 days 2 year contract

It sounds like you're with a local courier. Depends on what they're charging the customer, but IF they're playing straight with you and IF they're paying enough week to week on the average, it's not a bad deal. 1200 every week if you can keep that up AND be home every night AND have weekends for yourself/your family? You can certainly do a lot worse than that, so-- see how this plays out for a while.

OK, so the percentage is just a coincidence then. I wonder why couriers get a lower percentage.

Rush Transportation & Logistics (Dayton, Cincinnati & Columbus) is a courier company. Don't be confused, it's not an expediting company at all. Drivers don't "sit" after out of state drops. Rather turn & burn.
Even the straight trucks are not expediters.
These are not opinions or assumptions, and not even attempts at a "negative light".

Trust me.

If you're averaging $1200 a week at Rush, keep up the good work. You're doing it as best possible with their business model.
Great job!!

Generally couriers get a lower percentage because its common to have 2, 3 & 4 deliveries on board at one time. Higher percentages are paid, generally, for deeply discounted customers and route work.

Deleted by me. OP changed his numbers. See post #15 then look at post #18. They have changed.

He originally stated $1,900 for 3,500 miles, now he changed it to 1,900 miles. BIG Difference!!
