Would you do this?

Would there be any advantage to voluntarily drive your TT to a weigh station and ask the DOT crowd there to inspection your truck and log books and other papers you must carry?

I had a couple of O/Os try that years ago. Both were declined. I guess the DOT thinks you're wasting their time, knowing you'll pass. They seem to like "the chase" of finding OOS violations.

I wonder, do you have a legal right to have the DOT inspect your rig? What if drivers were to jam the weigh stations demanding an inspection, it not illegal , is it? I mean, wow, you could get to know your adversary and hey, just be nice, would drive them crazy for a change.

funny you asked, i did just that today...twice!
P.A had some of their blitz going on, first one refused, 100 mil. up the road, the 2nd one agreed, 25 min. later i was the proud owner of a clean inspection.
i ask for one every time i have a chance.
PsP & CSA are percentage paying costumers. the more inspections the merrier.

Excellent!! Clean inspections are GREAT for carrier scores too!! Although its the O/Os duty, I used to GLADLY give out $10 Speedway gift cards for clean inspections. It wasn't much but drivers always seemed appreciative for the small gesture and a warm handshake and "thank you".
