Well this started as a duplicate post but wasn't able to delete..
Its alright though as I intended to pay homage to a fallen member.
During my exile for being a horses azz (jury still out on that one) John O passed away after a long battle with cancer.
I can't claim to be a friend but during my 3 years here I got to know John a little through e-mails birthed by interest in his writings as an adventurer.
If anyone has links to his blogs and stories I would appreciate a link as I have lost them in a retired computer.
Any way
We spoke of one great last road trip as he seemed to feeling better and never lost his passion for the great outdoors the next thing I know he started an adventure on his own.
John as you know I bought that bike and even as recent as 2 weeks ago I thought of you in Yosemite.
Here is to you regretting I could have not known you better as I believe you were worth knowing.

On Death
Kahlil Gibran
You would know the secret of death.
But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life?
The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light.
If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life.
For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.

In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond;
And like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring.
Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.
Your fear of death is but the trembling of the shepherd when he stands before the king whose hand is to be laid upon him in honour.
Is the shepherd not joyful beneath his trembling, that he shall wear the mark of the king?
Yet is he not more mindful of his trembling?

For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.

Let's all meet someplace and go fishin'

You know Rev that would be a great idea..
Maybe a place where a majority could make it.
A place with RV hookups and facilities where we could plug in, relax and enjoy the company of people that just happen to be expediters not the company of expediters that happen to be people.
Maybe we could do it in the Fall and the beginning of the month when freight volumes are low so no one loses revenue..
We could have a big barbecue cook off where some of us could display our culinary talents and enjoy sunsets draped in cool temps, great conversation and enjoy a atmosphere where no person is superior or substandard..:D
I will even bring my turkey fryer so we can fry the fish..
We can do it in the memory and spirit of John.
