Liftgates

A team I think the key word you used here was "we" an important part of Liftgate use! How about getting 2 pallets on the gate and then taking your pj off by hand just to get the pallets off the gate, there have been many curse word uttered while doing this !!

You present the case for a large liftgate platform. Our liftgate was large enough to hold two 48x48 pallets with the pallet jack under one of them. When the liftgate reached the ground, we simply raised the jack and wheeled the pallet off. There was no need to take the pallet jack off by hand. The pallet jack and pallets rode down together.

Note that it was rare that we unloaded two 48x48 pallets at the same time with the liftgate. Pallets come in all shapes and sizes. Most of the time, the pallets were smaller than 48x48. In cases where 48x48 pallets were in the truck, loading and unloading was done at a dock.

After watching that video in it's entirety, there's numerous mistakes that were made - however the 1st one was that they pushed the load out to the end. When using a lift gate you have to be extremely careful and cautious. If your alone, it can still be done easily and safely.

The bigger the platform, the easier and safer the liftgate is to use. A large platform gives you room to work and move the freight around.
It also makes for a nice back porch for relaxing when laying over. Just add a couple of lawn chairs.:D
