It's mourning in America

It NEVER ended with Bush... the blame or the spin or the name calling. Why should we give respect to those who didn't give us any for 8 yrs? Please answer me that.

Truer words were never spoken. The name calling, the disrespect, the constant criticism and the hysterical vitriolic hatred directed at Bush from the Democrats started before he was inaugurated for his first term. Of course the mainstream media picked up on it and it never ended, or even slacked up at any time during his eight years. He was never given credit for any of his accomplishments. This was of course, a campaign ploy that started with the Clinton camp and was founded on the political principle developed years ago that if the same lie was repeated often enough it would be perceived as truth. The Democrats and liberals have displayed the most disgraceful personal animosity toward a sitting president seen in modern times (Remember also that they did the same thing to Sarah Palin and her family when they saw her bringing life to McCain's stagnant campaign). Granted, Bush deserved the criticism for quite a few of his policies - but holding the rhetoric to criticism of his politics has never been the agenda. The goal was to make people personally dislike and disrespect him.

Yet now we hear these same people telling the Republicans they should pipe down and "give Obama a chance", and "pray for him to be successful." This is hypocritical hogwash at it's worst. If the GOP can ever muster some leadership they should turn this same tactic on Obama and go after him on a daily basis starting tomorrow. The last thing conservatives want is for BHO to be successful, because his socialist agenda is not in the best interest of the country. Criticize everything Obama and the Democrats say and do. Anything that happens good should never be good enough. If he is successful at anything, deny it ever happened; if hurricanes and floods happen, they're his fault; if we have an outbreak of bird flu, he's to blame because it happened on his watch. If they start whining about partisan bickering, ignore them - they've never been bipartisan about anything except when the Republicans make the mistake of caving to their demands.

This campaign of constant negativism sure worked for them, and it took its toll over the course of time. Of course the media won't be in the tank for the GOP, but there will still be enough coverage and exposure to get the desired effect. After all, turn about is fair play - and isn't being "fair" what the Dems are all about?

Both parties need a good swift kick in the butt....they need to get to work..."together" too much time and effort wasted on the blame game...

Fire the press secretaries and isolate the press...lock them out so to speak on a need to know basis at best...

You must be real popular at the Klan meetings.

Road Hooligan

Remember there is like 20% of the population that supports Bush no matter what! Those are the die-hards. Also, Bush was called every name in the book by the lefty loons. Why can't Obama be attacked in the same way? In any case, it doesn't really matter what 20 percent of the loons on the fringe of the Republican party and the 20 percent of the loons on the fringe of the Democratic party think. Not every politician is a Harry Reid or Tom Delay. The average American such as myself, and apparently you guys as well are in the majority, and will welcome change. We will not get into nasty name calling, and we will actively work together to bring the moderate members of or parties together.

Inaguration day hosted the largest turnout in "inaguration day history." This fact can't be ignored! There were over 2 million persons in attendance (supposedly lefty loons according to the Cheff) and not one single arrest or incident. I guess regular-god-fearing-moderate-Americans from both sides of the isle attended this historic event! So it appears from at least preliminary reports that Obama is uniting the country, not dividing it.

Perhaps we have a long road ahead of us. But at least obama is giving the country what it needs right now; hope. Hope alone will not solve anything, but it will foster an environment where bearing these hard times will be much more tolerable. Just the perception of hope will give us Americans the strength to move forward in a hard economic time. Bush failed the Republican party; as evidenced in the election. Your side lost because of the rampant abuse of power amongst the Republican party. All Obama has to do is keep the Democrats from getting drunk on their power, moderately improve the current situation, and he will have the presidency locked down for 8 years.

Remember, bush signed the bailouts setting the stage for the socialization of American banks and businesses. Republican's also voted for it as well. I giess both parties are for socialism. Better get a new party or we're all doomed. But you can't knock this until we try it. Perhaps if half of our national budget did not go to the military industrial complex and policing the entire world, we'd have more money to fix our bridges and provide benefits to our poor. Nonetheless, whatever happens, we will have to work through this together as people first, and Republicans and Democrats second.

Because you make us right leaning types look as crazy as those far left kooks. Give it a rest.

Exactly Moot. Looney Republicans make the good Conservative Republicans look as bad as the radical Democrats make the Conservative Democrats look bad. The media was not kind to bush; i'll cede that. But all I got say about that is it brought in the ratings. Much in the same way Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity will have 8 years of higher ratings due to incessant Obama bashing. There is a percentage of the Republican party that will never accept obama; even if he completely eliminates the deficit and turns around the economy, just like there is a small percentage of Democrats who will never give GWB credit for creating a democracy in Iraq, even if history proves Iraq to have been a sheer success. That is just how the world of politics goes. Remember, the lunatic fringes on both sides of our respective parties are in the minority, and America will welcome a more moderate centrist form of government.

OK, Dodgeboy... first I can assure you the inauguration can be ignored. Secondly, your tone and tenor betray your lefty leanings. Come into the light and confess. Your giddiness with Obama is understandable.

I won't go as far as what Pilgrim stated... what's good for the goose, etc. I will attack Obama for what Obama does... nothing more, nothing less. Pilgrim is 100% right on the fact that the media did EVERYTHING in their power to tear Bush down, and turn the viewing public against him... same with Palin.

Unlike the left, who had a grudge against Bush since he 'stole' the election against Gore, I have a grudge against Obama because of his policies. Yes, his policies may bring ppl together, if he can pull off the FDR mentality. But I remind ppl like Dodge, who want the country to sing Kumbaya, Roosevelt brought the country together, while stretching the depression out until WW2 started. I have the feeling that the public has come to rather have their leg cut off, as long as they get a lollipop in return. Government gimmes come at a price. And that price is costs not only us, but our children. At this rate, it'll be several generations of fiscal conservatism from our government before it's paid up. That ain't gonna happen either.

My question was... Why should conservatives be well behaved, when libs whined for 8 yrs, whether Bush did right or wrong?

My answer to my own question is that we will, because our voice will not be heard. We will be screaming as our country turns socialist, but it'll be a silent scream. Our only hope is that the public continues to see the mainstream media for what it is, and starts thinking for and relying on themselves.

We conservatives have every right to whine, distort the truth and engage in name calling. We'll show those liberal commie pukes that we be as intelljent as them be.

hey osama obama binlately you are a big eared socialist, muslim puddle of camel ejaculate jihadist. Salām Alaikum wa-laikum as-Salām.

Four years of name calling should certainly help the Republican Party gain the support and blessing of the American people.

I did not watch, I was busy pizzing off liberals, I was earning my way through life.

I don't go to Klan meetings, The Klan burned crosses on my reletives lawn too. They were Catholic and UMW organizers. As with MOST hate groups, they are equal oppertunity crud.

Obama WILL NEVER be my President.

We now have the Second "HOOVER" in office!!! OMAMA OBAMA SUCKS!!!!!

I will not give into Marxism

I will no longer right ANY tax check to the Feds if: They institute a National Health System,
They use tax dollars to kill babies, in any form, Cut defense spending at ALL, Impose ANY form of gun control, including, taxes on amunition, banning ANY more weapons that are not already banned, allow lawsuits against gun makers when criminals commit cirmes using guns, If they ban or restrict hunting or fishing on National Forests or Wildlife refuges other than the safety regs already in place. Impose additional fees to hunt or fish on such lands, Pass a slavery reperation act. And many other things that I can't remember right now.

Obama WILL NEVER be my President, I owe him as little respect as he shows for my beliefs, my way of life and me. NONE

I can only pray that this goober just locks himself in a closet till we can get him out of office and get an adult in that position. What a putz.

The ONLY good thing I can see for the next 4 years is I can blame everything that goes wrong anywhere on the globe on Obama

I am NOT impressed by large crowds, I have seen that before in history, Hitler had them, Stalin had them, Mao had them, and so on and so on. Just because all the lemmings jump off the cliff does not mean that I will. I will NEVER be a Obama Bum.

Vote out ALL off them in 2010 and 2012. The Dumbecrats AND the Rebumlicans. Everyone in office today is corrupt and must go!!!! Get rid of them all!!! EVERY DANG GONE ONE OF THEM!!!

Gee, this is WAY more fun than I thought this would be!!!

I'm not saying that conservatives should do that, Moot. It was a question to liberals. If they can distort the truth, call the president dumb, totally trash a bright young woman who had more executive experience than Obama and Biden put together, ignore their candidate's pitfalls, and so on; why should WE hold hands with them and sing the Coke song, just because THEY got what THEY want? I'm looking for one good reason from a liberal why they think we should be like them NOW; and not how they acted the last 8 yrs.

One big question is whether the adoration and hope can be sustained, or will patience wane when the American people, and those around the world, don't see the immediate results?

One of the problems with Obama as a cult of personality isn't that he'll become the next Stalin or Hitler or Marcos, but with people, Americans and foreigners alike, projecting onto Obama all their hopes and dreams for a better future. He is their mother, their father, their lover, their confessor, their priest, their shining city on a hill. And they're gonna be crushed when they discover he's just politician.

And with that, I leave you with the immortal words of Dean Kay and Kelly Gordon,
as sung by the one and only Frank SINATRA - That's Life

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate,
A poet, a pawn and a king.
I've been up and down and over and out
And I know one thing:
Each time I find myself, flat on my face,
I pick myself up and get back in the race.

Although, the James Brown version may be more appropriate. :D

Not that i would expect anything less, but Turtle is right on. This from the israeli press:

Peres: 'Obama Was Chosen by the Whole of Humankind'

by Nissan Ratzlav-Katz
Peres: 'Obama Was Chosen by the Whole of Humankind' - Jewish World - Israel News - Israel National News

(IsraelNN.com) Just hours before the inauguration ceremony of US President-elect Barack Obama in Washington Tuesday, President Shimon Peres issued a special statement praising the incoming leader. Obama, he said, was the choice of all of mankind and will be more successful than his predecessors in resolving Middle Eastern conflicts.

"Today is a great day not only for the United States of America, but for the entire world," Peres began his
"Obama will be a good President to Israel, and I say Israel will be a good country for the President."
statement. "Obama was elected by the United States, but as a matter of fact, he was chosen by the whole of humankind.

"His is the correction of one of the greatest mistakes in the annals of history. What made history ugly, unmistakably, was basically slavery, and there were two sorts of slavery: men upon women, and white upon black. In the 20th century, there was a liberation of women. In the 21st century, there is a liberation of the other kind of ugly slavery, of one color upon another color because of the difference in color. This is a profound historic and ethical change. And it so happens that nobody did a favor for Obama. He won it because of his personality, because of his philosophy, and because of the hope he offers to all of us."

Hi
I must be way too liberal, because I felt that the press was giving Bush a free pass early on in his presidency. They never said anything about his cocaine addiction, alcohalism and never having to face a federal indictment just because his daddy was president.
Wow they made it sound like Clinton was the biggest drug dealer in the world just because he smoked a joint. He was going to destroy the world and the faith of all man kind because he slept with a consenting adult.Turns out the politions and religous leaders were just jealous because Clinton got his for free and she wasn't a little boy.
