Aim for gun laws that will work

Just curious, why is the part about a 'well regulated militia' always left out of these discussions?

    Stay in service over Christmas?

Just a update, think "the best laid plans..." The weekend before I got home, came down with a slight head cold. Nothing major. Dec. 24th, felt like death warmed over. Quick trip to Dr., lucky me, I have pneumonia. So been off since then, just now feeling up to driving. So original question...

    Rivets

Yep. I re-did mine afterwards. As for the signs, I like them better than old logos :)

Favorite/least favorite truck you ever drove

Favorite was a Mack R I drove for a small company. Would cruise fine at almost any weight, even up hills. Worst was '09 Volvo I was in with a trainer, when I went back on road in early '10. It rattled more that my current '04 FL M2, and road like a brick :)

Best way to run local/regional with a Cargo Van

Can't speak regarding a van, not my thing, but I do fairly well running solo in a straight truck for FedEx, in that area. What helps is I have all the endorsements needed for their White Glove service. Also, my income needs are not real high. A poor week will gross 1k+ to the truck, a good week...

    Stay in service over Christmas?

Thanks all. Thought this would be the case, but figured I'd ask. Jim F

    Stay in service over Christmas?

Am planning to be home from aprox. Wed/Thur, the 19th or 20th, through the 25th. have thought, though, of staying in service, in case there would be one or 2 local type loads, in the area (Charlotte, NC). Wouldn't accept anything going out of general area. Has anyone done this? Would the...

Perhaps old info, Time Warner Wifi

May be old info, but for those of you who have Time Warner Cable at home, they offer a mobile wifi plan, unlimited for $50 a month. You get a receiver and the software. I've had it for almost a year, and am happy with it. Get a 3g signal in most places unless real remote, and 4g when near or in...

Question from a potentially new husband/wife straight truck team

jw, didn't you make any progress with this yet?

    Polly express

I called there for info, a year or so back. Was told by person who answered phone, who said he wasn't connected with company, just there doing some tech stuff for them (but who seemed to know a awful lot about them) "they aren't interested in O/O who want to run legal all the time". Take that...

Looking Ahead to Possible Tax & Deduction Changes ... Bad for Expediters

Mr. Wolf, are these the same businesses that have sent so many jobs overseas, that will grow our economy? Investment vultures don't care who's working where, as long as they see a profit.

anyone with us express expedite yet?

Anything new on this thread? Just curious, now that it's been almost a year since 1st post. As for the Swift flatbed comment, Swift's fb div is still going strong. It was started mainly to service one customed, Freightliner's motor chassis division. It was never planned to be a big fb...

    A very belated "Thank You"...

To all who offered advice and assistance when I came on with Load 1. It turned out not to be the right fit for me, so I took the truck back to FedEx. The transition from driver to owner, last Oct., and the time lost changing companies, set me back some, and I never really gained ground while...

    December Banter and Location

Sitting at home, since Thanksgiving. 1 load offer, but another of the type that can't be done running elogs. Oh well. Wife asked 'why would dispatch call with that, don't they know?'. Reminded her that it can be magically be done, using paper logs, like i used to do, and there are more...

    US Express Transportation

Ant new info on this, as I see that the ad on here now states straight trucks as well? When I drove TT, I considered them, as most of their drivers seemed fairly content with them. But since they didn't have a flat bed division, didn't bother calling them. Just curious what their ST rate...

    November Banter and Location

Morning all. Still at home, but in service, after a excellent weekend at home with the better half (way better!). Nothing yesterday, hope I move out today. Wish I had read OVM was in Haw River on Sunday, would have driven up and bought him breakfast :)

    Wow, some change

Well, I do think it's been slow for everyone, but am starting to think that if you're not MI based, it's worse. The local guys seemed to be keeping busy, from what I saw at the yard last week.

    Wow, some change

By that, I mean what I'm reading here. When I decided to buy the truck I have, from the owner I had been driving it for, I figured since it cost time and money to switch carriers, might as well do it now. Although I drove expedited in '97, so much has changed, and I've only had experience with...

And now for something completely different

Steve, great idea :) I do the same, tip wise, and I'm $6 richer this past week.
