Now that I have given up trying to lease out my "D" unit(I just pulled
my ad), I would like some input/feedback on the best course of action for "making it" as a solo driver, in this distressed market that we find ourselves in. I will most likely be leased to Landstar(I am familiar with their system). Please try to give positive/constructive
comments. If you feel a need to be critical, please use private e-mail.:) :)

I would just say try to stay in good areas, east coast, upper mid west. So far as driving solo; unless your a husband and wife type team where all the money is going to the same family, your just as well off going it alone. I have tried both ways, and most of the extra money made as a team goes to the second driver and over head.According to the last figures I saw from FedEx a team will gross about 40% more than a single. Unless you can get a co-driver really cheap, there goes your extra income, with much more wear and tear.At this time most of my experience is as a single driver, I am currently trying out the team thing this year. Also, you should find someone you can get along with and tolerate, this might be a good to lose a good friendship. Awfully close quarters in a truck! Another option of course is getting out of expediting, unless its something you really like to do. Been able to make a living last few years, but no one I know is getting rich! Good Luck!! KG

What do you do? Get down run that truck get on that phone and make calls. One driver is better than a truck doing nothing.Like I said before I have my authority and I'm glad that I made the move to get it.So its a little differant for me. Hawk
