update on truck damage

I mentioned on another thread about a C.R. England driver backing into my truck then trying to deny damage . There was discussion about validy of digital photos , the need of witnesses , etc . I just wanted to let you all know England has a very cooperative insurance carrier . When I came home to reset my hours I got my truck serviced and got damage estimates Monday . The insurance carrier (AIG) was closed due to MLK Day . I called them Tuesday and faxed 2 estimates and a police report . They asked me which body shop I wanted to go with and said they'd send out a check . They told me to send proof of gross income for the past couple of months along with expenses . I faxed that yesterday and they called today saying they figured a weekly income , divided it by 5 and will pay that amount per day while the truck is in the shop . All worked out well but I learned a lot . While I used to do a walkaround of my truck most of the time before leaving a parking space ,now I ALWAYS do it . The truck wasn't parked 15 minutes when it was hit . When I park at a truckstop I either try to park away from semis or at a middle row where trucks drive through rather than backing up . The advice on cameras was good and witnesses may be essential . Along that line it's good to offer yourself as a witness when needed . You might prevent someone from eating damage that wasn't their fault and more importantly protect their safety record and keep their insurance costs down .

I hope it does work out for you. It ain't over untill you have there money in your hand. Just be careful thinking this is all settled. Do you have a claim number, are you recording your conversations? At least keep a jornal of everytime you call and of course who you talked with. Caution is the word here.

I'm glad that you reached the insurance carrier -- and that they have treated you well.
Did you find them through a state office in Utah?
I hope that I helped you.
Best wishes,
Doc.

I had a CRST truck smack one of my trucks. AIG was the Insurance company. Be careful dont spend any money that you do not have. Wait for the check. I had a heck of a time getting my check from those incredibly nice prople. A few folks on here gave me advice including DOC. I did get my check but it was not without pain. I kept a log of my calls to them as is suggested in an earlier post. I had to end up telling them of my call and claim with the State Insurance Boys. Then they expedited a check. Be careful until you are with check in hand. Best of luck.

I'm still able to work with the truck until the check comes in . The England office in Utah gave me the AIG number in Atlanta and they referred me to an adjuster in Des Moines . If the check comes in next week I'll be able to get the truck repaired then . The body shop has worked with AIG before and did say they are fair but slow .

I had had an agent in Des Moines as well. His name was Rivers. He was a very nice guy and when pressed he did get me the money. I think it was DocR that told me how to force their hand and when I did they jumped. I had the check within two days I think. It was very fast once I used Doc's advice. Good Luck. I am sure they will pay you I just wanted to let you know not to tie your truck up expecting to use their money to pay. Hope it works out quickly.
