unpaid drivers and a small-fleet owner

Have you ever driven for two women in Foley, Alabama, while their trucks ran under a lease to a major carrier based in Michigan?
If you have driven for them, did they fail to pay you some or all of your money for your work for them?
If they do still owe you, you may yet have an opportunity to get some or all of what they owe you.
The owner of that small fleet filed for bankruptcy in Mobile on 23 March 2004.
However, she did not list any of her unpaid drivers on the schedule of her creditors.
The chief judge of her bankruptcy court held a hearing on that matter on 17 November 2004.
Then he set another hearing on 13 January 2005 -- another meeting of creditors -- to inquire further into the owner's true financial position -- to deal with certain irregularities in her case -- problems and questions about the accuracy and truthfulness of her petition.
That may give an opportunity for her unpaid drivers -- the drivers whom she has stiffed -- to get some or all of what she owes us.
My wife and I are among the drivers whom she has stiffed.
If the owner has stiffed you too, you can file a claim with the clerk of the bankruptcy court.
I'll gladly send you a copy of the official form -- a very simple one-page form.

Expediter wannabees and newbies, are you listening as you research this industry? There are fleet owners out there that will indeed stiff you given half the chance. There are also good fleet owners out there that will treat you fairly. Be careful in making your choice and don't be afraid to ask prospective fleet owners hard questions.

Not just hard questions! Based on our unpleasant experience (I'm the other half of DocRushing), it is absolutely imperative to ask for contact with current and/or former drivers for that fleet owner. The good ones will offer it without being asked, but the deadbeats will tap dance all over the place. Newbies beware!

Sorry to hear that you got stiffed. But the ratio is probably 10 to 1 for drivers stiffing fleet owners. A driver looks real good on paper, goes out in the owners vehicele, decides this life is not for him and abandons the vehicle wherever he feels like it.Many owners spend time and dollars qualifing drivers to have them leave after a few months.
