Two ideas for EO forum..

1) Why not put a small icon next to the user's name indicating the size truck they drive? Like a little C or D straight truck, van, tractor, fleet owner, etc....

2) Also, a list of current "standard, non-discounted" company pay rates for each class,(A,B,C,D,E or whatever) in row-column on an EO forum. Itd be nice to know who's paying good and who isn't. Maybe theyd be more competitive when their rate is side-by-side with everyone else's?

i love that idea, i would love to see what company is paying well, and be nice to know who drives what.

One problem with a chart of pay are the variations in ancillary fees. Just because one company pays a higher base rate doesn't mean the overall rate is going to be higher.

Maybe an asterisk or some other subtext could explain any condition or deduction from the company's posted rates?? Also, maybe some checked columns on who provides comdata cards, who has QCs, Trip-pack, discounts for tires, etc... Kinda like a Truckers Friend for expeditor companies?

I think this is a great idea. I don't know what the effect on our pay would be because we're a bunch of independant drivers. Still, as a rule I would think that when payscale is public rates generally go up. Look at what happened w/ athletes. I realize they have agents & we don't, but those guys often had 2nd jobs in the offseason until the 70's, when their pay became public.

This isn't to say Fed Ex will be signing "Driver X", a Free Agent from Panther to a 3 year/2.8 million contract anytime soon. It would help in that there'd be a reason given for lower rates. I think it would have a chance to help our payscale.

Of course, the flip side is that maybe the higher paying companies would lower rates. I guess it could happen, but I doubt it. Odds are no one will change their rates. If anyone does change their rates, I think it's more likely the lower compaies bring their rates up over the higher companies lowering em.

Take care,
Danny
