Truck Driving Career

When I told my mother seven years ago that I was dropping out of college, gonna get my CDL A and become a truck driver she looked at me like I was on drugs and wanted me to stay away from the friends I hung out with. My friends had the same reaction but they thought that maybe I bumped my head and had some marbles rolling around trying to find their place. I didn't listen to any of them, a week after I graduating with my AA in physical therapy I went down to the DMV, took my CDL test and passed the first try with all the endorsments.
Like I said that was seven yeas ago and I've never looked back or thought I made the wrong career move. I've learned so much about this beautiful country, the economy, how it works, the "trickle down" effect, how to save and spend money, and the meaning of hard work. Truckers love to give advice and share their experiences to help newbies just starting out and I like that. We've all been through the wringer, been treated like crap, had sand and mud thrown in our face, but have pressed on because of the support given to us by fellow drivers.
With all the good and bad its hard to turn your back on this industry especially since we all know how rewarding it can be. I just thought I'd share my story with you all and maybe hear some others.
