I was just told that if I put nitrogen in my trucks tires that I will add life to my tires and cut the chances of blow outs. I was told that since it's lighter than regular air it would increase my fuel use. I guess all the airlines do this to make tires last longer. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever been told this. Is it true, or just some BS? Any input would be greatful.

Wel if Nitrogen is lighter then air?? you would need more nitrogen pressure to stay at the rated rate.I think it is BS as if it was true it would be widely known. Also you don!t find Nitogen outlets at the Petro!s etc,you would probably have to buy some cylinders from Air Products or another outlet,fill your tires and return the cylinders.Could be expensive..

I might need Einstein to correct me if I am wrong, but our "air" we breathe and use to inflate tires every day I think is about 85% nitrogen already.

I kinda thought it was BS, but just thought I'd see if anyone ever herd of this. In 13yrs I never did, and I asked my dad, and he drove for 30plus yrs, and he never did either,

Being new here hope this doesn`t come across as know it all itis..
The trick about nitrogen comes from the racing world, we used it, not for a speed increase(there isn`t any) it is used for the reason , normal air creates moisture during the heating and cooling period of driving, also nitrogen does not expand as much as normal air during heat up so the tires set inflation stays very close to static cold settings.
