Safety Warning to all Sprinters!!!

Broke down today! The inner ring of the steel wheel and the outer ring of the steel wheel SEPARATED! The inside spun and the tire went flat! Discovered it had rusted inside the rim along its welds! Could of been a lot worse got the spare put on and off again! Pictures to come !

One of the advantages of nitrogen tire fill is the absence of moisture which reduces the potential of rust on steel wheels from the inside of tires. It also reduces the potential of rot and disintegration of the tire itself from the inside. It's good you only have the disadvantage of time spent changing to the spare. As noted, it could have been much worse.

just weld it back together and throw an inner tube into it....way ya go...

I have had one of the rims on my 2005 sprinter leak, was having to put air in it every few days, when I had someone pull it to find out where it was leaking, was the rim itself, had to pick up another one at a boneyard.

I was lucky and had some warning, cant wait to see the pics of what happens when they fall apart.

i have a 2012 Sprinter and so far I have had problems with weld around the valve stem area on 3 wheels so far. Bought 2 new ones and will have the bad ones fixed and ready for the other 2 to go.
