Own authority ???

Would you, please, give me some clear answers if it is worth getting my own authority (D unit),how does it work,PROS and CONS,if one can make it doing it,how to get loads,initial costs,paper work to get it and paper work for operations (loads),how do I get paid and other advice you might think it is useful.THANKS!
