Salsa on 2 is the New York’s version of salsa that grew popular with people and dance studios. This is one reason why this dance is also referred to as Salsa On 2 Dance NYC. This salsa developed during the 1950s and 60s, a period when there were two forms of salsa i.e. Cumbia and Los Angeles salsa (salsa on 1) ruled almost all the dance floors. Still, salsa on 2 managed to make a place in the hearts of salsa lovers. Salsa on 2 means salsa on the break of the second beat. Some people also refer to this dance as Mambo.

Salsa developed in Cuba and later extended to other parts of Caribbean isles and Puerto Rico. It spread to other countries such as Latin America, Portugal, France, Italy, Japan, Eastern Europe and other places of United States. The dancers of this salsa dance are very finicky about the dance timing and music. Jimmy Anton social is the longest running social within New York that is held on alternate Sundays of a month.

New York City has several dance schools and studios that provide dance classes for this beautiful dance style. These dance schools segregate their students into four categories i.e. beginners, advanced beginners, intermediate and professional. This classification is done according to their skill set and knowledge. Students can enroll for dance lessons through three ways – online, private and regular. Online lessons are imparted through the internet in the form of videos. The fees of all these lessons depend on the lessons chosen.
