41 year old Paramedic intereted in a career change. Held Ohio Class A 3 years ago and let it expire { stupid me}. Really dont want to run with 50 foot of combination behind me but am very interested in expedited freight in a straight truck. Would like to do otr out for 3-4 weeks. Dont have the credit to buy but would like to team or solo. I was just wondering if anybody has any suggestions, like training who to work for etc. I live in Arizona, I havent seen too many expeditors out here. Should I spend the money to get class b with air or should I go with class a?? Any help would be interested. Also do freight expeditors hire newbies???

Oh boy, never let your license expire! My recommendation would be to get your "B" license with haz-mat as that would be the cheapest way to get started again. You can use a rental truck to take your test. FYI most people fail the Pre-Trip Inspection phase of the test, so make sure you know how to do it the first time. Save yourself a lot of frustration on test day. I use to teach Truck Driving years ago. Just passing along what the test sight told me to try and help you.
How about going out to the Flying J west of town and talk to some of the expeditors that hang out there. They can give you the insight and may know some contacts to help you get started. The west coast group is a little different than the rest of the industry that stay East of the Mississippi. They are going to be able to answer many of the questions you will have. Good luck with your new adventure.

Well I was going through my closet today and I found all my paerwork from old school in Canton three years ago, along with my old license that the Arizona dmv punched. The license doesnt expire until March 2005. But I was issued a standard regular license when I moved back here. I am wondering if I take all of this back to the Dmv along with a medical card if they will give me my class A back??? I have all my old Gold copies from my pretrip, skills test and road test which I passed.
