In the past, I've seen ads for expediters that specified that you had to leave within 10 minutes of being called. I thought that was extremely unrealistic. If I'm sitting in my driver's seat, that's one thing; I can get directions and all that in that time.

But if I'm in bed, I'm likely undressed. Getting dressed, ruining in to use the can, grabbing coffee, then getting directions in 10 minutes it's unrealistic, and probably isn't necessary.

How long does it take everyone else to hit the road once you hang up the phone?

Once you pick up the load you can stop and get food/coffee.
1. you should have a full tank and be ready to roll if a call comes in.
2. GPS and a good map book is your friend.
Remember this considered expedite work not general freight.

I don't remember a mandate to roll within 10 minutes. That doesn't mean anything, it's been over 11 years since I retired. I do remember when the QC went off with a load offer you had to respond within 10 minutes to accept or decline. And make the pickup time of course. So I guess at times it was leave immediately and at others it might be a few hours until the pickup.
