hello
my wife and i r considering getting outta the big truck and going the expediated route.

i have heard good and bad about this industry.more good than bad.

as we stand now we make pretty good money..we are lease operators.but we never get home and we run out behinds off ...as in 6800 mi a wk plus.we already do alot of jit freight now so i figured it cant be all that different.

so can anyone give me some answers on the following..

is the money any better..we net about $2800/wkly now on avg

is the home time any better?

is this industry booming as i hear it is?

is leasing or purchasing our own truck worth it oppsed to being a company driver(i swore i would never be a company driver again)

are the operating expenses considerbly lower than a big truck as i think they must be??

are the shippers and rec and better than what they are in otr?

guess thats bout it for now i am drawing a blank.besides the wife is driving on the dallas loop like a maniac and i am bouncing all over the place..

any advice would be greatly appreciated

kind regards
jeff

>Is the money any better? We net about $2800/wkly now on avg. I would have to say the money may be a little better, but that will be up to you and how well you adapt to this business. Once you learn all the ins and outs I would say a good running team can do A_O_K

>Is the home time any better? Again that will be up to you to determine. The longer you stay out the more money you will make.

>driver again) Most of the big Expedite companies don't have company drivers. They have O/O's. An O/O may have a small fleet and hire IC's to run his trucks. This is in most cases done on a 60/40 split. OR!!! You can by a truck and lease onto one of the biggies. You may want to find an Owner looking for a team, at first and see if this is what you want.
