RE: Expediting vans becoming extinct?

I AM VERY HAPPY WITH A CARGO VAN:7 UNLESS YOU STAY BUSY IN A STRAIGHT TRUCK I DONT KNOW HOW YOU MAKE IT. EVERYTHING IS TRIPLED IN A C-D UNIT. EVEN AT TAX TIME YOU CANT CLAIM MILEAGE YOU HAVE TO CLAIM ACTUAL EXPENCE AND THAT ALONE WILL KILL YA. IF I COULDNT CLAIM MILEAGE WITH MY CARGO VAN WHICH I CAN BECAUSE MY GVW IS UNDER 10000 I WOULDNT BE DOING THIS TYPE OF WORK. I WOULD BE PAYING THE IRS EXTRA 5-7000 DOLLARS A YEAR IF I COULDNT CLAIM MILEAGE AND THAT IS THE TRUTH.

B units will allways be an important part of this business. One of the problems is that it is very much easier to purchase a van than a "c"or"d".Financing and downpayments are much easier, therefore recurters are able to have a glut of "b"units at any point in time.I avgd 40K when i ran van for FECC back in 1988 thru 1993.Of course they wont let you get that many miles with todays rules.I understand that Landstar does not make these limitations.Good luck with your decision and remember if you do go w/B your van can double as your personal vechicle when at home.
