Can anybody give me a little info on getting loads off the net or load boards? I am leased to FedEx CC, they just arent cutting it for me. I sit way to much and would like to use that time hauling freight for someone else, what is my first step? Do I need my own authority and Insurance ETC. How do I go about obtaining my authority? What all would I need to do to start getting loads from other companys other than FedEx? Also when I first thought about leasing on w/FedEx I posted a message here and had a lot of feed back from others, now I wish I would have listened to you guys....If you are new and thinking about FedEx please do some serious research, talk to drivers, fleet owners, past drivers and all the different expedite companys out there. I had my mind made up and nobody could change it, now I wish I would have listened to everyone. FedEx just isnt what people think, they are in this for them not you and you will figure this out if you go with them. Also do not listen to the drivers out there that boast about all the big money they make and how they are always on the move they will not help you one bit in your quest for the right company...they are only fooling themselves and could fool you so keep your head on straight. Well Im still trying to make it out here, Im not giving up yet. thanx for any info you have

One thing you can do if possible is to make your way to Dallas TX this weekend for the Great American Truck Show. There should be plenty of licensing agents who can explain and assist (for a fee) the process of getting your own authority. Also stop by the Expediters On Line booth and Lawrence and his cohorts can explain to you the Expediters On Line load board. There will be Fedex Reps at this show who will tell you how great things are, plus other expediting companies.I have been with Fedex CC 14 years and fully intend to make this show for the same reasons in your post..Good luck.

Casey11, I felt the same way a month ago, Thank God things are picking up. Do you drive single or team? That makes a big difference. Listen to Rich, Lawrence, and Wendy they won't lie to you. The truth is I made 3 times more money last year then this year, but everyone I spoke to from other Companies said this year from April till a few weeks ago was very slow for them too. Don't give up. I know its hard.
