fan clutch runs quite a bit with little or no load i have an fl70 99 its been hot out west above 100 should I be worried ??

The highest temperature I have ever experienced was a couple of years ago. We loaded out of Los Angeles on a Friday Afternoon with a Monday delivery in Galveston TX. Coming across on I 10 in the Indio CA area the outside temperature was 129. Both the cab and sleeper AC were going full bore and couldn't keep up with the heat. Every time I tried to go over 50 mph the temp gauge would go right into the red and I knew there was that long upgrade coming up where they advise you to turn off the a/c.
So we decided to stop for the night,found a motel that was open (most were closed for the summer) and spent the night. At 2200 it was still 110 degrees.
The coldest temperture I have ever experienced is when we lived in the Utica NY area. One Friday night in January I left a Sheraton Hotel where I had been entertaining a customer and the temperature was 23 below.
So we decided to stop for the night,found a motel that was open (most were closed for the summer) and spent the night. At 2200 it was still 110 degrees.
