I’ve been following the formula Leo posted over the past few months and it’s finally got to the point that I understand it and realizing a savings doing so.
It has become second nature when planning route, doing necessary paperwork and consider where I may need to refuel including where is the most cost effective place to do so.
As an added bonus I signed up for DieselBoss fuel report http://www.dieselboss.com/fuel.htm to aid in locating the best possible location to refuel.
I make it a habit to top off tanks whenever I leave NJ as my home state does have the lowest fuel prices including tax rate and tax credit. Since most of my loads either begin or end within a short range of NJ this isn’t much of an issue.
For those times I’ve ventured far enough away where I have to refuel reviewing what the price of fuel, fuel tax and fuel tax credit has saved me money every time.
