Tom DeLay was vindicated yesterday by the TX 3d court of appeals, having his conviction of money laundering overturned due to insufficient evidence and being acquitted of all charges. Some of the legal experts have been saying the acquittal is unusual, and emphasizes the weakness of the prosecution's case.
In spite of being found innocent after 11 years of dealing with these trumped-up charges, the Democrats still managed to succeed in getting him booted out of his House Whip position, thus removing one of the GOP's most effective legislators. Conservatives can only hope that in the future the Republican party will come to their senses and abandon their unrealistic policy of requiring their leaders to resign from their positions and offices if only indicted on charges, regardless if they're valid or some trumped-up nonsense invented by their political enemies; Democrats certainly don't play by this set of rules. The GOP needs more effective hardball players in the party leadership instead of pansies like Boehner and McConnell. After having a loser like Barack Hussein Obama re-elected with a down-and-dirty campaign, they should realize that nice guys really do finish last in politics.
