can anyone tell me how you can get your dac report. besides waiting 30 days for it.My second question is how somehow someone else can get it,that is the one you are applying for a job within 2 days without a written consent. and can tell you your life history. it seems unfair to me. Im just curious how he can get it that quick and you have to wait 30 days Is there a web site i can go to

I thought I heard somewhere DAC was going away. Did I dream that? Seems to me I heard it on the Open Road when they had a guest on there from DOT or somewhere like that.

DAC services didn't go away, but are now part of this company:

http://www.usis.com/default.htm

From what I could gather from the site, it's information to members only for all sorts of industries. I know DAC by law had to give you any information they had on file about you for the cost of a SASE if you sent them a copy of your drivers license. I imagine that same law applies to this new reporting service. Trucking companies who are members can get any reported information right away. Big brother is watching you!!!

OOIDA did an article on DAC in their " Land Line " magazine a while back . Check their website . They will be glad to provide you info .

I thought I heard somewhere that OOIDA was suing DAC because disgruntled and vengeful employers were using DAC to intentionally report false or misleading information and thus black-balling drivers from other driving jobs. Another issue was that trying to get any false or misleading information corrected or erased was next to impossible. Also, much of the information is very vague and can easily be misenterpreted by someone reading a DAC report. An example would be the question: "Is the driver eligible for rehire?" If a company answers "NO", it could simply mean that the company was downsizing, but someone reading the report might assume that the company won't hire you back due to poor job performance.

It flat-out needs to be made illegal. If it was your credit report they were doing this with they could be arrested under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and fined substantial amounts of money. Anytime a private entity has the kind of power that DAC has over your private information, it needs to be made accountable by law, to the law. DAC has had open range when it comes to a person's private information.

I agree. I wish I could remeber how that entire discussion went where I heard them talking about this. They got on DAC pretty hard and thought I heard that someone was going to make it go away. I heard that show while half a sleep. :)
