Right now coal stock at Peabody Energy is selling for $1.12 a share. In 2014 it was selling for $16 a share. If you like to speculate, now is a good time to buy. If you go back 6 years, coal stock was selling for $90 bucks a share.....might be a good time to buy.

George Soros just bought some coal stock, he is not stupid. You remember he is a buddy of the Clintons and Obama......The filing shows the purchases of 553,200 shares of Arch Coal for $188,000 and an investment of $2,254,000 into Peabody Energy for 1,029,400 shares, which means he’s lost money on both so far. Peabody, the biggest coal producer in the U.S. by output, said in a recent statement that it “has been trying to turn itself around as it faces challenges from low natural-gas prices, a glut of global coal supplies, weakened demand from China and a growing public call to cut carbon emissions.

Hmmmm, use part of your billions to fund environmental groups and PACs, target an industry and when the industry falls out of favor, buy it up on the cheap. Nice investment strategy.

My younger brother works in management at a coal processing plant in Kentucky. He says the coal industry is in the most dire situation he has seen in his 30 years in the business. Lots of companies have filed bankruptcy and many more are looking to sell their holdings. Obama has kept his word about putting a big hurt on coal. Until a new administration which is friendly to fossil fuels comes along, coal and other abundant energy sources will be underutilized, driving up the cost of electricity for everyone.
