Expert Expediter
I did a trip from Cleveland, OH to Grand Rapids, MI on 6/24/03, and after seeing several B units on my way out of C-town on I-90, I thought I would pass some time by counting the number of expediter's I saw on my trip. So I started marking on a list the different trucks that I saw, without even really looking all of the time because, of course, I was driving. I couldn't believe how many trucks I saw, sometime's one right after another. Here's how the list broke down:
B units - 30
C units - 10
D units - 27
E units - 4 (I wasn't really looking for E's because there are so many big trucks out there, you just can't snap your head to look at each one as they go by.)
This was just one little strip of highway in this vast country for one short span of time, and I probably was only able to look at the other lane maybe 20%-25% of my trip. Also, that's not even counting all of the straight trucks (large and small) and cargo vans that I couldn't tell if they were expo's or not, because of their markings.
My point is that if you are supposed to be in this business (and you should know if you are or not), you will get your loads. So hang in there, and tighten the belt a little through these tough times. Eat a few sirloin's instead of the filet mignon you were used to in the late 90's. There is freight moving all over this great country!!!
