I read with great interest what those of different truck line companies had to say about the year they had and what they expect to come. I would like to know what Fed Ex would have said. It probably would have went something like this:
"We had a great year getting our name out with our rolling billboards sitting in truck stops. Why our logistical management sometimes can get 16 to 20 D units in a city where we only move 6 to 8 loads a day. And there is no way our solo drivers are going to get tired or burned out from running like some companies that expect drivers to drive. We at Fed Ex are proud of losing some 600 units in our fleet as of last fall. In fact we put it in our last newsletter. And this year no matter how soft the freight market we will hire all the new suckers uh I mean drivers to make this year as successful as last year!"
A driver saw me coming through Nashville a couple of weeks ago and said "Look at that Fed Ex truck! His wheels are going round and round!" I told him to take a picture because he wouldn't see this unit again.

We couldn't agree with you more!!! In my experience, when a company decides that they need to hold back 10% more of the OWNERS income (they say we REQUESTED it be this way!) there is some serious trouble going on. These other companies who claim business is "up" are full of S@#*&! There no different then Fedex..."Tell em' what they wanna hear". Things at Fedex have gotton so bad they are sending dispatchers home early. With less then 500 loads per day on weekdays-and about none on the weekends-I'd say we the Owner/Operators are not gonna be the only ones out of business! This "D" unit is permanetly off the road. Good luck to the rest of ya out there. We'll keep you in our prayers-your gonna need all the help you can get.
