A Newbie...again

A brush guard would definitely help protect your van if you were to hit a deer. I don't see it having a noticeable impact on mpg since it is round and is mostly covering the front of the van where you already have resistance. The only issue would really be the weight but as long as it doesn't put your load capability under 2k lbs you should be fine. I was thinking about putting one on my van as well.

I met a guy in El Paso that had one on his van. If your damages were 9K and 3 weeks off, it sounds like cheap insurance. The guy said just be sure to not tighten it down so much that there's no give to it. According to him, you WANT the give to absorb some of the impact. I have no idea how much one costs, though, or how to install one.

Deer terrify me, so if I owned my rig, I'd definitely have one.

Hey guys, thanks for the input on the brush guard. After that incident on I69, deer terrify me as well.
I found a decent one, by Go Rhino that is quite sturdy. Streetside Auto has them the cheapest I've seen, at just over $400 (using a $25.00 off coupon).
I think I'll give it a go assembling it myself, and then having a guy at a shop down the road put it on. Messing with the bumper bolts and brackets to the frame loosk sort of intense.
I hadn't considered that about having just a bit of give to absorb some of the impact if..that terrible event were to happen. Good advice, thanks.
