What this feature does is sends you a text message when there is a amber alert in your chosen area, gives you updates, and tells you when they are cancelled.

This looks like a good thing. The only drawback I see is you are limited to 5 zipcodes. The way we're all over the country means we wouldn't be in the area of the alert most of the time. It's still a good idea and if home plus the 4 major areas you are around most often are put in it could do some good.

OK, I did some browsing and if you go here: http://tinyurl.com/7w2ww and click get involved in the left column near the top you can sign up for RSS feeds for the entire nation. I've never used RSS before but found I can set it up through my gmail account pretty easily. I have it working now. With that, you get a notice of the basics and if you click the missing person's name you get a window with their photo, description etc.

Leo, I agree with the drawback of only having 5 to choose from, so what I did was use a zipcode for the 5 most traveled areas for me, I have 2 different phones, so I got to choose 10 states total. I am reading about the rss method you researched, another great idea, is that where the information goes to your e-mail? anywho thanks for taking time to look into it. Be safe out there.

FECC sends us Amber Alerts VIA Qualcomm. I allways write the info on the windshield with a Vis-A-Viz to help with the watch.

It must only go out only in the area most likley to help. Can`t recall any that were for allerts far away.

I believe it can be set up to automatically go from the google rss feed page to the gmail email page but I haven't found that yet. I have a google default page set up that shows me emails, rss, weather, garfield, and a sudoku puzzle all on the same page... all the important stuff. :p Anyway, I can just see them there. I may get really adventuresome and see if there are any other rss feeds of interest.
