    Getting my bearings

If your first bearing had a catastrophic failure, I wonder if the spindle might have heated to the point that it warped (bent) from heat. It might have and it would not necessarily be obvious to the eye. If this is the case, the spindle being bent, the bearing will be forever in a binding...

    gelled fuel

LD, Get a couple of bottles of rubbing alcohol. Pour half the bottle for each 30 gallons of fuel and you will prevent gelling. Sounds crazy, but it works:7

Kinda Funny if you Think About it.

Hold the phone Greg, There is a Federal Law dealing with any such crap from dealers. I can't quote it to you, but it does exist. If any of the dealers decide to pull that on you, you will be able to sue them (and win)to your hearts content. They might try to bluff you, but I will bet they...

    Ham Radio license and expediting

Sorry, not all 220 is gone. Just the good portion of the band from .100 to .500. UPS bought the entire spectrum for thier package tracking. I really saw it coming and I must say that I did nothing but watch. I still don't DX as much as I should. I guess the 1.2GHZ band is slowly being...

    Ham Radio license and expediting

Contgrats! I think you will enjoy 440, especially in the larger metro areas. There are many repeaters on 440. I like 2M sideband and enjoy working sats on 440/2m. You will need an all mode 440 to access the sat uplink. It is all fun though. 220 is a crime for us and we brought it on...

    Ham Radio license and expediting

Yes 6 meters is great when the band is open. 6 propagates similar to 10 meters, all or nothing. I really never got a chance to tx on 220. As usual I and my fellow hams let 220 get taken from us. We are our own worst enemy. The Gov. allowed us to have great bands and we don't utilize it. I...

Sleepers " Does Bentz have a web site"?

RE: Sleepers I am glad to see Bentz get thier site up (at least a message that it will be in April). I called them and they are most helpful. In the mean time, try Phoenix.net. They are a conversion company in Knoxville, TN. They have an expediter package (photos) of a sprinter. :)

    BIG RADIO'S

You might like to try getting an amatuer radio license. You can transmit on the 2 meter (FM)70CM and up. These frequencies are all linked around the country to repeaters and it makes for good company. Since everyone is licensed, the courtesy on these freqs. is a breath of fresh air. Bob KD4BTB

    E track

Hey LDB You can accomplish the same securement utilizing Terry's setup. You will want to secure a strap around the pallet and pull the strap back towards the sides and secure them. You will then do the exact same and pull the strap around the rear of the pallet and secure is forward on the...

24 inch sleeper for a cargo van

Meant to mention the deep cycle battery. My experience is with tractor trailer and there is more battery than in a van. Glad you didn't get stuck with a dead battery. That is a real drag. Bob:7

24 inch sleeper for a cargo van

Have you tried a bunk warmer? You can find them in most truck stops. It is a device that is similar to an electric blanket. The only difference is that is goes UNDER you bedding. It is all you will need, even in the frozen North aye. Bob:D

24 inch sleeper for a cargo van

No problelm the OP. I pulled flat out of Tulsa and the one thing I always heard about was the problem with freight shifting in a strong stop type incident. The safety folk had photos of the damage inflicted by a lowly bungee strap when it broke free of its mount. Man, what a lot of damage it...

24 inch sleeper for a cargo van

What a great idea. I like that concept. I have a 1800 watt inverter that I want to install permanently under the bunk area. This way, the problem of load safety will be solved. I can only gas weld, but I think that could be done well enough to provide the strength necessary for my personal...

24 inch sleeper for a cargo van

Thanks for the reply there. Terry you have a great set-up there. I called Phoenix conversions in Knoxville and he gave me an estimated figure of 3-4K if I wanted custom features. I thought that was more than I wanted to spend. I checked with a couple of more RV dealers her in the middle GA...

24 inch sleeper for a cargo van

Thanks for the return! I would have to sleep with my legs curled as you say. The widest that the configuration would allow is approximately 55". I am 6'2". I do regularly sleep curled and had the wife measure my position and she posted me at 49-51". I guess there is really no easy way to do...

24 inch sleeper for a cargo van

I looked at the one picture alimibunk has on its site for a small sleeper on the '04 Ford they have listed. It looks like a finished bulkhead wall with a raised area for the mattress. The add calls it a 24" unit. I could see a storage are beneath the mattress. I would like to duplicate...
