    irp plates

I don't mean to sound off here, but if your paying too much, it's because YOU decided to do business that way. If you call Bolt recruiting, they will tell you that they overcharge for the plate. because they really don't want to be bothered and charge accordingly. Just like alot of other small...

    Truck Loan

if you signed on the dotted line, you have agreed to anything above. Everything is negotiable.... if you negotiate before you sign.

    FAST Card

Am I the only person who actually used the FAST card? Back when I was actively driving to Canada, it was a fantastic. As long as everything was in order (that burden fell on me to verify all aspects of the load) we passed customs in two minutes (after waiting in line!!) Now I have to go renew it.

    truth in leasing regulations?

Earlier this week I dredged up an older thread about escrow and it has taken off. There are many of us on EO that have taken the time to read the "fine" print of our leases and leads me to ask a couple of questions. As a contractor, do you understand the Federal regulations regarding the...

did you ever get the FASS system? I was just quoted $1100 for a fuel/water separator! I think...

did you ever get the FASS system? I was just quoted $1100 for a fuel/water separator! I think the FASS system is less than that right?

    Escrow

bearcat, your right in that it is YOUR money in escrow. Does Panther have a penalty for breaking the lease? Some carriers have penalties if you cancel before fulfilling minimum requirements. As far as the workers comp, Zurich writes an OCC/ACC policy. I think Ohio requires O/O to have either...

    Escrow

With the Federal regulations so specific, why do carriers continue to dance around the subject? It would be very interesting to compare a dozen current leases to see how they approach the issue. As we speak, CR England is doing some historical accounting mandated by a Federal court to address...

An Ordinary Recession This is Not

Interesting list Phil, most of the items were either related to destruction, reconstruction or expansion. What is the next driver of our economy? New land for our farmers to expand to, infrastructure, auto, aerospace, tech? What ever the next big thing is, there will be a need to transport...

    Escrow

I was just reviewing some of the leases I have been privy to. Only one is paying interest. I agree that the truth in leasing laws are very detailed as to escrow accounts, but some leases use differing terms to identify escrow. Reserve, sign on fees, emergency funds..etc. But, in all of the...

    out of state tags

Or you could lease a plate from your chosen carrier if they have a plate program. If they are located in MI, then you can get a MI plate.

    Calif. / APU

Depends on the year of truck and APU. New trucks like yours would need a new APU CARB approved with a particulate filter. An older truck like mine 2001, can use an older APU. Just wait until the 2010 rules!

    for sale

Don't know if the number of trucks is getting larger, but I do know that they are getting less expensive. Dealerships are sitting on trucks, sales are everywhere

    5,000 Trouble-Free Generator Hours

I guess I'm the odd person out. I still ran an AUX until I sold that truck. Had over 6800 hrs on it. Talk about noise though, and the fumes too. The only repair was the water pump. It was a bugger to get to. Replacing the belt was terrible. And lastly I had a curious happening. Right...

    Cruise problem....

sorry I didn't see this post earlier, i've had two of those switches on my truck and one on a friends truck go out. Weird that the cruise is hooked to the parking brake. This a pretty common switch failure. The biggest hurt is getting to the switch, way down in the dash!! Once you know where...

    If GM fails, what then?

Let them fail. It doesn't make any difference what kind of business it is, or where it is located. All three are multinational companies that had record profits just a few years ago. There has been numerous times these companies could have responded to American consumers wants and desires...

    Speed Limiters

I foresee a niche market for a handheld ecm programmer to be carried by the O/O. Get close to the border and reprogram the unit. Get back to the States and set it higher again. When did trucking become the profit center of choice for government???

    haz mad

I was just checking this out. Weird but true. It ain't HAZMAT unless it's placarded. Use the definitions for placarding. Some chemicals etc are HAZMAT all of the time, some are only if the weight limits are met. My NC CDL manual is very exact in that only if a load is REQUIRED to be...

    older trucks 2

The original thread was about older trucks. I, for one, like older trucks. It is less expensive to get into expediting, has been less expensive to repair my older DD Series 60 than most, I've stayed away from the latest and greatest to have a great running, long lasting class 8 expediter...
