    2012 Hino 338 P2436

Since my post last year, I've had to replace 4 atomizers in Hinos. All of them were P2436. As greasytshirt states, when you see P2436, replace the atomizer. I was interested to learn what triggers turn this fault on, but it's futile. Just replace it. As for P0087, it means fuel rail...

2012 Hino 338 ECM fault P2471, sensor replaced

P2471 exh gas temp circuit high (4th from upstream). I monitored the DPR outlet temperature sensor from the BCU. (The ECM only showed one exhuast gas temperature, but it was for the EGR). In the BCU, The other DPR temperature sensors showed numbers that made sense, but the DPR outlet reads...

ECM keeps telling PTO to shut off

Ok, this isn't over. It worked for half the day then qent back to shutting off again. I changed Preset PTO Set RPM to 1200 (instead of 1300) and it's staying on now, but this is just a Band-Aid and probably won't work forever. If anyone with intimate knowledge of this issue can help, please...

ECM keeps telling PTO to shut off

In case anyone is interested, the problem is solved. Or at least, worked around. I don't know what the problem was really, but I changed the setting to disable the driver's accelerator pedal while PTO is on and the PTO no longer shuts off unexpectedly. One would think this means the ECM is...

    2008 Hino 268 no power

Have you made the determination if the problem is really an ECM limp mode? Meaning, the ECM not allowing full power. When you're at wide open throttle, what's your "Calculated Load? The Calculated Load is supposed to equal what you're demanding from the engine. If calculated load is lower...

ECM keeps telling PTO to shut off

2014 Hino 338 with PTO and remote throttle switch installed (non-OEM). PTO turns keeps turning off. I monitored the PTO switch and remote throttle switch (scanner sees them as PTO switch 1 and PTO switch 2) and both switches show as "ON" when the problem occurs. So, there's no problem with the...

PTO status turns off, can't figure out what's causing it

Farid, did you get this resolved?

FYI, before you replace that injection pump...

I'm feeling generous since Hino 123 helped me resolve a problem. So, I'd like to pay it forward with a little tip. Did you know there's a little strainer inside a banjo bolt on the injection pump? One more place where fuel can be restricted. Customer's Hino crank, no start. Fuel rail...

    2008 hino 268 J08E coolant temperature issue

I guess you don't have a scanner that can read Hino?

Lack of power loss after coming to a stop. What sensors are used in "Calculated Load"?

Update for anyone who will read this in the future. Thanks to Hino123, I have repaired the problem.... Broken wire for brake switch (BSW2 circuit) on the chassis rail just behind the cab. It looks like there was a hole in the insulation. Water got in and corroded the wire until it turned to...

Lack of power loss after coming to a stop. What sensors are used in "Calculated Load"?

Answered my own questions: Valve on the right is the modulating valve. This hoses are going to the emergency brake sections of the cans, not the service brakes. Valve on the left is the relay valve for the service brakes. ECM does not read all 3 switches when deciding to reduce power because of...

Lack of power loss after coming to a stop. What sensors are used in "Calculated Load"?

Okay, I'm also convinced it has something to do with the brake switch on the relay valve. Stop Lamp Switch status goes Off and On with the brake pedal as it should. Brake Switch status is always On. There are 2 switches on one valve and 1 switch on another valve. I tested the wires to the...

Lack of power loss after coming to a stop. What sensors are used in "Calculated Load"?

When you say 90% brake switch issue, are you talking about the one on the pedal or the relay valve?

Lack of power loss after coming to a stop. What sensors are used in "Calculated Load"?

Hi. Yes, it's air brakes. I'll have to look again to see if there are separate monitors for brake switch and stop lamp switch. I'll test the switch on the relay valve. Brake pedal switch is definitely ok. Customer replaced it. I re-adjusted it and tested last night. As for turbo, I don't...

Lack of power loss after coming to a stop. What sensors are used in "Calculated Load"?

No go. The brake switch is adjusted properly. I also did some more road testing last night. I can see the brake lights on the ground looking in the mirror. They're not coming on unexpectedly. Also, I can hear the relay if the brake lights come. But here's a related question. When I...

Lack of power loss after coming to a stop. What sensors are used in "Calculated Load"?

Hmm. I will take a look at that. They had mentioned that they thought it had something to do with the brake switch and replaced it. When I monitored withe scanner it worked ok. When it was experiencing power loss, it said "off". I'll update once I check. If you are correct, I am sending you...

Lack of power loss after coming to a stop. What sensors are used in "Calculated Load"?

No check engine light. No faults in any modules. After coming to a stop, engine is weak accelerating. Problem is random, but have become frequent enough that it happens about 50% of the time. When the lack of power occurs, it will randomly and suddenly go back to normal while trying to...

P1405 in the BCU, high atomizer fuel pressure

2014 Hino 338. I monitored the atomizer pressure and when it kicks on, it went as high as 103 PSI. Is this normal? I think I usually see around 90 PSI.
