The pay for vans needs to be increased. At the current van rate, I will have to cancel my contract when my van dies probably some time next year. I cannot afford to run at these rates if I have a van payment and still be able to pay all my bills.
I have a 4.8 in my 2006 GMC 3500. I average 17 mpg with 248,000 miles. I've had good luck with this motor, just oil changes using Mobil 1 every 10,000 miles. Haven't had any trouble going up hills with 2500 lbs loads.

I have been offered several loads with dh over 200+ miles on less than 75 loads. Have turned them all down because they usually pay less than $150. I'm down to 1 to 2 loads a week now because of the new pay system and I go home after every load too. Good thing my van is payed for or I'd be...
I had two van load offers today at .65 cpm loaded out of Dallas express center. My last load offer for the day was out of the Little Rock express center paying about .77 cpm for all miles but another van out of the Memphis express center got the load. Hopefully Friday will be better.

I look at the runs I've had in the last 30 days. My gross pay was approx 3300. Under this new system pay would be approx 1900. That's about a 42 percent loss in pay under new pay system if there are no negotiations. Looks like we will have to work twice at much for the same pay.

We're home now for the holidays. We're going to drive for a fleet owner after the holidays in a DR unit.

We have a 2006 GMC 3500 ext with a 4.8L V-8. We get about 17-18 mpg and sometimes 19 mpg. Our last load was 2200 lbs and got about an average of 16.9 mpg. Trip was 1300 miles.

Would like to hear from van drivers (teams) that drive for FedEx Custom Critical. Will be putting on a van around the first of October. Are vans with teams keeping busy. We usually stay out for 1 to 3 months at a time. We are currently in a D unit.

Thanks for all the replies. I've decided to go with a 2006 GMC 3500 Ext Cargo Van with a 4.8L V8 and locking 3.73. Hopefully with the smaller motor I'll get better fuel mileage and still have enough power for a 1 ton van.

Thanks for the reply. Trying to decide which van to buy. Both are 2006 models. The Ford is 138" wb and Chevy is 155" wb. I think the Ford is going to get better fuel mileage.
