As suspected after having the tcu tested the problem is not with it. I'm going to put automatic transmission fluid in it let it idle for a hour. Then put the right fluid in it. Change the inline air filter. And see if it works. The clutch actuator works properly .so I can't think of any else to try.

I do have a manual but I do appreciate the offer. After I get my tcu back from the shop and clean out my transmission I'm hoping that will do the trick.but I won't know until then. I've learned even if it does start working I could work for a hundred miles or one hundred thousand miles. I can't...

After fixing two bear wires and putting on a voltage doubler it works 80 percent better. But it still has problems. I've noticed that the the meritor guage light fades out. The intensity of the light in the gauge fades out.

I'd be too concerned about purposely wetting down the tcu

My truck has a hard code , 20. In the Manuel one of the fixes is to take the tcu out and reinstall it. Has anybody ever done this.

Did anybody. Buy a tcu rebuild kit. Instead of replacing the tcu.

Doe's anybody know how I could test the sensors and the ecm, so far I have a voltage doubler coming. I'd rather not have to purchase each part . unless I know there bad.

What I've learned since I've had this meritor junk. Is nobody is qualified to work on it. And if I get somebody that does spend five or ten minutes looking at it . all they do is guess as to what is needed to repair the problem. Nobody recommends the same thing twice.

Usually not always when my truck goes into sm, system malfunction. It won't shift but it will stay in whatever gear it was in.a big problem is nobody either knows how to work on then or they hate working on them.and freightliner is the only place to go that has the right software.

I was hoping somebody out there can help. My transmission goes into system malfunction. All the time. It don't matter what gear. I am wondering if replacing the wire harness and reprogramming the tcu might help.that is the only thing that the dishonest Mechanics have not recommended.
