I used to drive one of the Penskes... I could carry six 45x48 pallets, but rarely did... the trucks 2007 and older were 10,000 gvwr so werent subject to DOT... 2007 and newer are 12,300 gvwr for the same size truck.. I was properly insured just like all the others that ran for my carrier...so...

i hear cargo van rates are around .65 .. no where near $1

any uptick in March?

oh believe me i know... ive been doing this 4 years now... have any of you ever seen an environment like this.. and it gets better?... im trying to stay positive

take out $700 a week out of that number for truck and the guy is still making a G... assuming you could get those miles.. im making $0 in 5 weeks

3000 miles x .65= $1,950 150 gallons of gas at 20 miles per... at say avg 1.70 a gallon is $255 $1,950 - $255 = $1,695 and fuel is wasy cheaper in some parts... maybe they are actually killin it

its also just possible that making good money in expediting is over...

i understand that... the lower fuel cost then and now, apples to apples, my rate now would be $1 ish... not .50/.60/.70

I started doing this 4 years ago... I always got $1 - $1.25 including fuel... in the last 5 weeks ive only gotten 2 loads.. for $1.. i ask dispach wtf is going on, they tell me guys are running for .50/.60.. paying for gas and everything out of that..

how was december and january for you? is this just all of the sudden?

hopefully march picks up... but once rates are this low, how much higher can they go honestly..

you gotta lower your bids... guys are drivin for free, you need to run at a loss to compete.. ;)

i work for two carriers.. one has customers, the other is pretty much just off the bid board... my first year three years ago was really good.. two years ago ( i know and eternity ) everything was fine... last year kinda sucked, and now its just not doable with the rates they are saying they...
