I am not defending it. It is how we run our business. Although like anything in the world it is open to change. I made it very clear that I wasn't making excuses. I am not apologizing to anyone for the 30 day wait. No one forced Owners to come work for us. I was merely stating that the...

I never said it was his job to collect the money. You missed the point entirely.

If I pay later than the contract they signed says I should then you are correct. All of these owners were told upfront how the pay works. I explain it to them in the first conversation we have, it is in the contract, and they hear it again when we actually put them in service.

First of all, I dont appreciate your tone but I am going to ignore that because this is a forum and it is hard to judge someone based on text. If a contractor shouldn't wait 30 days for pay? Why should my company have to wait 60-90 days to get paid? Who makes these judgements. So my...

I appreciate the comment. We have been making plans to improve the situation before this ever started. Obviously though the decision is more complex than simply choosing a factoring company.

I appreciate the courtesy. I wish I had seen the thread earlier so I could have been better prepared to defend us. haha. Honestly though we understand the 30 day wait is a long time. We are working on a plan to shorten that wait. I would also like to stress that not every driver/owner keeps...

I have no part in the actual accounting done here. So obv. I can't give a complete response. There are any number of reasons pay may be slightly delayed. However, 8 weeks is crazy and should never happen. If anyone with those complaints would like to send me a message or email me some...

    Recruiter's Knowledge

Funny that this thread popped up again. I just had a conversation with the company owner about our best drivers. Every conversation I had with them in the recruiting stage went smoothly and they actually took the lead. They knew what they wanted in a company and called to see if we could meet...

    Recruiter's Knowledge

We don't advertise much so our situation is a little different. Most of the people that call into the recruiters here have heard of us through our current drivers. They usually have about half of the information they need to make a decision. If you were to call me and ask why you should...

    Expediting companies

Okay, so we aren't as far apart as it first appeared. That is good to know. I drove for awhile and while my financial risk was far less than what the average O/O encounters, I do have enormous respect for all of you. Simply put, I can't do my job without a responsible wheel man.

    Expediting companies

We have had a couple conversations about the business as a whole and I congratulate you on getting your own business rolling. With that said, to act like making a phone call and booking a load is all a company does is absurd. Who takes care of billing and payroll? Who makes sure you...

    Expediting companies

that was a good one? I know some of our drivers run for Little Truck Solutions and T&K. That is not an endorsement because I don't know much about them other than I haven't heard any complaints. I have heard complaints about LRT. There seems to be some new support from KF Trucking in...

    The Game

As many have said, without the entire story from both sides it is impossible to judge whether this was an unfair situation or not. I work with several fleet owners that want to know when their drivers turn down freight. My contract is with the fleet owner so I inform him if I think there is...

    The Game

that isn't forced dispatch. your OOP needs the freight covered. they are just trying to make you realize it.

Those were the lowest rates I had heard so I couldn't imagine how they were "very good." However, if companies are running vans cheaper then I guess those rates might be good for a certain crowd. Let me say, I have absolutely no issue with LRT or their rate structure. I just wanted...

Are there companies out there that pay less?

    Recruiting Manager

This is my point. Most of our customers want coverage first. I don't work with anyone who would take the time to call one van to see if they happened to be around. However, I am not saying that it isn't possible, merely that it isn't my experience. Back to what camper is saying. I don't take...

Then there is someone out there who can do it. How busy do you stay? Is this your only income? I am interested in how you make it work. I think there are a lot of people out there who would love to do exactly what you are doing.

I agree "low" is a relative term. I guess my point is it doesn't make sense from a driver's standpoint. Why on earth would you take freight for .85 a mile when the same freight is being driven around by other drivers for +.95? I mean every company should just recruit for .85 and take larger...
