    Looking for a mentor

I think you might be selling yourself short there. 22 yrs at CRST and time in at Panther sounds to me like you could be a mentor. I'm not the right guy and I'm not a fleet owner, but the main advice I'd give is to have some money in reserve before starting up and to keep detailed records of...

    New To Dispatching

I think the same advice that would be given to a new driver applies. Learn on someone else's dime. New driver = go run for a fleet owner. New dispatcher = go work for an established carrier or broker.

Spare Some Advice For A Newcomer?

In the past, Florida was a hard spot to find loads out of. That may have changed. Anyway, everything Ragman said is spot on. You should also consider how long you're willing to be away from home.

    Where is everyone

What happened to Ascent? I've heard good things about Load One.

    Where is everyone

Facebook might be a part of it, as well as Youtube, TikTok, etc. I think younger folks are less inclined to engage in dialogue vs listening to a video or podcast on a topic. Never watched it, but as example that "What the Truck" podcast has over 34K subscribers.

Fuel for Thought Are You Experienced? : Greg Huggins

Interesting topic. I think everyone on here is helping by providing feedback/advice and answering questions when asked. You could flip it around and ask new drivers where they go to learn more about the industry? Wonder if EO is connected with any of those driver schools? Just to list...

    It's a Team's Life Mid-America Trucking Show 2025 : Sandy & Stephen

Went to MATS a long time ago and it was a marathon, as you put it. I far preferred going to the Expedite Expo just to not have to navigate through all of the stuff that I wasn't interested in. I see the notice that showed to check back in 2025. Do you know if there is going to be one this year?

    Question about cargo van

Hello - have you thought about signing on with a carrier? When you say dispatcher, I'm taking that as working with different brokers. If that is the case, they don't really have any motivation to keep you busy. I used to work on the shipper side of things. We would not work with a carrier...

    Where are they now

Would like to say that it is because they are all to busy hauling freight....but I doubt it. I thought for sure there would be some dialogue about the Dept of Labor rule last month on Independent Contracting.

    20 years here.

Howdy! Matrix is based out of Flint and has been around a while. Never worked for them, but a friend told me they move a lot of GM and were decent to deal with.

Friend has a question, can y'all help?

From what I've heard, MSH is a part of or at least has same ownership as CMAC Transportation. CMAC has been around a long time. I've seen On Time equipment on the road and it looked like a company that allowed drivers to run for multiple companies. I say that based on the vans having magnets...

    Amazon - OTR

Just curious if anyone here has or is running for Amazon? Not the household delivery stuff, but OTR. Just looking for feedback on the good/bad.

    This doesn’t happen often...

Always heard good things about Load-1. Wonder what % of their overall freight falls into Sprinter Van category. Most other carriers have had a freeze on adding any.

    ELD protest Oct 3

Link below on an article about a protest planned. I recall a protest a number of years ago over fuel that generated some media buzz, but didn't amount to anything. I don't really expect this one to be different, but what do you all think? ELD mandate protest efforts set to stage October 3

XPO Logistics Ready To Buy Again

They were owned by Landstar when XPO bought them. Scott Taylor is the guy that founded them. I don't know what drives your opinion about him, but I'd guess he's probably done okay since selling it off.

XPO Logistics Ready To Buy Again

He never said that it would be one big acquisition. It could be several smaller ones. I wouldn't be surprised if it is Ceva. They were mentioned in an article a few months ago about being eyed by Geodis.
