    stolen van FOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

That's great news for you about the van being found! Yippiee! It is also great news for all expediters the way some rose here to communicate and keep an eye open. That's what the EO community is all about. We are all better off for it.

    Extra Charges

I have seen it happen many times where drivers and owner-operators co-mingle their opinions about their self-importance, rights and/or power over a customer or carrier with the details of a carrier's compensation schedule (D-time, labor, lift gate, pad-wrap, additional stops, surcharge, etc.) In...

    Van stolen...please help

I agree. The message could mean anything. Still keeping an eye open here. We are monitoring a fuel island in the Midwest. Diane has the second shift tonight. ;)

how many background checks are required?

There is a lot of money to be made by processing all these background checks and administering credentials. Political influence can be gained by having say over the jobs and money involved. The whole process gives certain people something to have say over, other people jobs, and still others...

    It's Time To Be Reliable.

It doesn't get my blood to boiling, but it troubles me some that this talk about "truck drivers" seems to focus on the stereotype, as if there was only one kind of stereotypical truck driver and a few exceptions from the norm. Stereotype, schmerotype. No two truckers are alike.

    It's Time To Be Reliable.

When you say "truck drivers" I am beginning to wonder what you mean and what stereotype you hold of them, and whether your stereotype is fair. Would you call expediters like Diane and me "truck drivers?" We have CDLs but not Class A. They are Class B. We drive straight trucks, not big rigs...

    Spring Break?

Not in any way that we have noticed. The welcome changes signaled by Spring Break include putting our winter jackets away and paying for tuck washes that last longer than a day. :)

    It's Time To Be Reliable.

Having made the move from driver to owner, the biggest difference we found was having the fleet owner out of our life. That was a relief and it simplified our lives and business decision making. Once we got into a truck of our own, we never again had to think of a fleet owner before taking time...

    Van stolen...please help

Here are the same photos posted in a way that does not require people to log in to see them. Not everyone who browses this site logs in first. Update: Van is found. Driver photo removed from this post since it is no longer needed.

    Van stolen...please help

We expediters cover a whole lot of ground in a day's time and there are thousands who read this forum. Diane, me, and I am certain hundreds of other expediters stand ready, willing and able to keep an eye out for your van. Please provide a complete description and a description of the driver...

    Again, trying to show

DaveKC, Not to change the subject as there is no need, since this topic has been kicked around many times in many threads. If Diane and I wanted to, we could run the wheels off our truck but not at rates that are acceptable to us. Your strategy and ours differ and I thank you here for...

    Again, trying to show

I don't see it. Entertaining us with stories about truckers doing the worst to each other do not cheer me up. If I am laying in the hospital for some serious reason, I am not likely to feel better if you were to tell me how much worse others had it. We are hauling right now, our second load...

    Again, trying to show

I said above that in good times and bad, there are happy people in the poor house and sad people in mansions. If you go back a few years in the Open Forum posts, when times were good, you will see people both happy and sad, just like today. Let me add that what the happy people seem to have in...

I have received similar reports from other drivers. If you are at liberty to share, I am sure many readers would be interested to hear more about Ceva's expedite division.

    TriState again

Diane and I have had it happen several times that a customer asks us how the customer can ask our carrier for us by name the next time they have a shipment. We show them our truck number and driver names on the bill of lading that they already have. We also say that when the customer next needs...

    Poor bidding practices?

Colonel, this is one of the best posts you have ever made; not because it is one of the best posts you have ever made, but because you wrote it in mostly plain English with complete sentences and properly spelled words. Yor posts are often worth reading. Thank you for not making me wade through...
