    Need some advice here

I'm thinking about getting into expediting. You see, my brother in law worked with this guy who had a cousin who worked at GM. That cousin used to see these cargo vans delivering parts there and he said they were expediters. One of them drivers said he had come from 1200 miles away! So when...

Those darn complain and blame drivers

I hope people keep their attitudes about certain parts of the country because we'll keep doing loads in and out of those areas and getting good rates in the process. Maybe I should encourage those attitudes.

Those darn complain and blame drivers

We have a few rules regarding shorties. For one, I won't bid cheap on any of them. I'll ask for riduculous money and then if I get it, the driver is going to make as much on that shorty as he would have made on a slightly longer run. If I can get a guy a couple hundred dollars for a 75 miler...

    what are your priorities

A lot of smokers don't always think that rationally. Not saying that about all of them, but I've seen some smokers do some crazy stuff.

    User Friendly Load Boards

No. It's an alliance of expedite carriers. People are generally looking for full rate expedite loads on there, although some do post LTL on there from time to time.

Yep, no more of my money going to either store. I will continue to use their parking lots and restrooms though...and I'm not even sure if I'll remember to flush.

    You Gotta Love (NOT) Advertising

I'm with OVM on that one. You can save enough money fueling at other locations to pay for your showers. With that said, I still fired off a strongly worded message to Pilot, just to notify them of their sheer stupidity. Think about the financial impact of this decision. I know that cargo...

Ford will Release the new Ford Transit in 2012

Actually it has nothing to do with it being diesel or not. It's the 3500 that has dual wheels. I have the 2500 which is single rear wheels but still diesel. I think most Sprinter people on here are probably running a 2500 diesel.

Ford will Release the new Ford Transit in 2012

That post was another one of my pet peeves, the idea some people have that Sprinters can haul more weight. The gross is the same as a van, so how can it haul more?

Ford will Release the new Ford Transit in 2012

And if it weighs in the vicinity of 6000 lbs empty with you and all your stuff in it, that leaves a bit less than 4500 lbs for cargo, more like 3500 if you're lucky. Which brings me to my other beef, van guys who will regularly take overweight loads at cargo van rates. For one, it's not...

Ford will Release the new Ford Transit in 2012

What's the GVW on those things? I thought it was around 9600, but maybe I'm mistaken. But if it's kept under 10,000, could you still put 4500 in there and keep the total under 10,001? Just curious. I'm getting kind of tired of all these brokers wanting to pay van rates on 4000 lb loads. I...

Ford will Release the new Ford Transit in 2012

Just curious. Which econoline can haul 4500 pounds legally?

Ford will Release the new Ford Transit in 2012

If they come up with one with the same cargo volume as a Sprinter, at least the same payload as a regular van, a diesel engine, and sell it for a lower price, then I'd be tempted.

    Move Those Transponders and Stickers

Where this could get tricky is with the GPS and satellite radio suction cup mounts on the windshield. I have my GPS, XM, and a cell phone cradle all mounted like that, but I'm in a Sprinter and not in a CMV. I guess that would probably get me in trouble if I was in a straight.

Can you work for more than one company?

Which is likely to happen with the companies that will allow this sort of arrangement. Other than customer accounts, most companies are getting their freight from the same sources. Most of the time I don't think the truck has a better chance of getting loaded in those situations, just a better...
