How do you broker your own loads?

    >WOW a $1000, the last time I checked for my van it was $5800 >a year and that was without the $1M for hazmat. At that >rate, I can insure my truck at $4000 a year. That was through Great American out of Cincinnati. I didn't bother with the hazmat. I can get enough to haul without messing...

How do you broker your own loads?

I have a Sprinter and I got my cargo insurance for $1000. Of course I went through the same company we have the house and car insured with, so maybe we got some kind of discount.

How do you broker your own loads?

I just got my authority, but right now I still get what my carrier can find me and then book my own loads when I get stuck or can't get out of a certain area. I want to transition to running all on my own eventually, but for now that's how I'm doing it. I've had decent luck with...

    Freight Securement

If you get through Cincinnati, Trailines on Windisch Rd in West Chester has just about anything you would need as well. I bought most of my stuff there.

    1st day of december

I had a pretty warm week last week. I left home in Cincinnati and went to McAllen, TX. Got a run up to Dallas, then a load out of Ft. Worth going to Jackson, MS. Hung out in Jackson for a day and did a short one up to Memphis. Then I got one out of Memphis to Bowling Green, KY. I deadheaded...

    Analyzing Freight Slowdown

I have had a couple slow weeks, but for the most part I've been doing pretty well recently. I think a lot of this business is being in the right place at the right time, or being willing to relocate to the right place. I live in Cincinnati, which is a darn good place to be for getting loads...

How many skids for a van ?

I would echo the other response. I have a 2007 as well, the extended version, but I only gave myself about 40" for my sleeper, which is big enough for me since my bed is only 24" wide. I did that specifically so I would have enough room for three skids because the carrier I signed on with told...

    Gifts for Expeditors

Books and more books, that and some new DVDs would be nice. Maybe a larger inverter that can handle a microwave would be nice too.

    Thank You Expediters...

I guess I should put in that I am glad this place is here. I don't post that much, but it's nice to come in here and see that there are other folks out there, besides the people I meet on the road, who know what I'm going through on the road. I talk to friends and family a lot on the phone...

    SPRINTER OWNERS I NEED HELP!

I have a 2007 and have never noticed this. Maybe I sleep too deeply.

    DRIVER WINS AGAIN

If I sit more than 3 days somewhere I'm looking to relocate, especially Detroit. I live in Cincinnati, which has always been a good place for loads, so if I'm anywhere close to home I'll just head home and wait there. It doesn't cost me as much to keep the house warm at night and my wife's...

Thanksgiving- is there any freight that week?

This is my first year, so I have no past experience to guide me, but I'm kind of hoping to have my cake and eat it too. I'm hoping to get some decent miles between Monday and Wednesday and make it home Thursday morning. Then the following week I'll shoot for some serious miles again. I've...

Why Are So Many Van Expediters Serial Killers?

I've always wondered about those people. I have a 2007 Sprinter, the extended version, so I have about 40" of space for my bunk area and have plenty to do back there, DVD, PS2, and plenty of books. Sometimes I get kind of sick of sitting back there all the time so I will sit in the front seat...

    OOIDA UPDATE

For my part, while I am concerned about safety, I'm also concerned about how much money these Mexican carriers are charging to run the freight. Will American drivers be able to compete, or are the Mexican carriers going to be so much cheaper that the shippers will use them every time?

    Is this typical?????????

    >Charles you seem to have a good grasp of the world in which >we live....Be positive with the wife she may come >around..*L* >A week in Texas woulda been a stretch for me though.... >What size unit you drive? I have a 2007 Sprinter, the extended 170" wb. Most of the time I keep fairly...

    is cdl required

I have a small sign on each side of the van. I cover the signs up when I'm going through states that require vans to stop at scales. It also saves me a little bit of toll money in states that charge more for any commercial vehicles.

    Is this typical?????????

I'm fairly new as well and I have been having some of the same frustrations. My first week I grossed $3600 with very few empty miles and most other weeks I'm grossing around $1500. I can live with that, but the last couple weeks I'm doing a whole lot of sitting and it doesn't seem to matter...

    question on APUs

So, it's been a few days since I posted that question. In that time I have switched from local courier driving to expediting and I have purchased a new Sprinter 2500 170" wb extended. To say the least, it uses far less fuel than my Ford did and doesn't cost nearly as much to idle as the other...

    question on APUs

Hello there. I've been reading this forum for some time now and finally got around to registering. Anyway, I'm rather new to driving, been doing local and regional stuff for a little over a year, mostly courier stuff. The company I'm with has a good amount of expedited freight and I've...
