    Getting a fresh start

Cars are inspected like this is MA . Every car needs annual inspections including emissions . Inspections supposedly include checking the VIN , front suspension , headlight alignment , parking brake , frame rust etc . If anything fails a rejection sticker is placed on the windshield and I...

    O/O revenue and drivers pay

I think as far as fuel goes , it should be paid for by the driver after a reasonable percentage of gross can be determined considering all costs . It would be interesting to see how mpg compares on trucks where the owner pays the fuel vs the driver pays for it . You can be sure when the driver...

    Insurance catch 22 's

As posted in another message I decided to buy a dually pickup and contract delivering new travel trailers but I'll continue to visit this site because of the useful info . I purchased a new Dodge 3500 Dually Quad Cab . I needed the insurance to satisfy Chrysler Finance to take delivery . I had...

    Minimum corporate state tax

I would think the carrier you are leased to would be the one who would have to be concerned with this . For example if you are incorporated but leased to FedEx they would probably just deal with FedEx concerning taxes . Whether the carrier passes charges on to you is another question .

    ALL-TYPES EXPEDITE

    Getting a fresh start

If you travel in TN there is almost daily use of the rest area at Northbound I-65 mm 48 . They check paperwork and everything better match . They use this area to train new inspectors so sometimes they get pretty nitpicky . Also be very careful of your weight in IL . They have no tolerence on...

    Going another route

I'm glad I found this site . I've learned a lot the easy way . You expediters deserve a lot of respect but after looking at all the angles of it I decided not to get into it . I've run too long , too hard as an OTR driver to be able to adapt to being idle for a day or more . When I am off I like...

    Misdemeanor conviction

Thanks for all the replies . I figured it had something to do with going into Canada . I wondered if they went back 30 years .

    Misdemeanor conviction

I understand a conviction will keep you from qualifying . I had a conviction in '70 . Does that mean I can forget about getting into expediting ?

    Hang-outs

    $ per mile

I've talked to a couple of different companies about a cube van and both told me I'd gross about $1200 - $1300 a week . Going with a 9600 GVW lets you avoid all DOT requirements and not have to bother with logs (unless you haul HAZMAT ) , scales , and split speed limits . I originally wanted a...

    all types

I talked to All Types but they were pretty vague with their info and wouldn't mail out any info . I'm currently running regularly through their main operating area and have never seen one of their trucks on the road . I see a loi of Panther II , ConWay Now , FedEx Custom Critical and a few...

    Liftgate on eBay...

It's wise to shop around for used liftgates . Many truck and trailer companies buy used truck bodies wirh liftgates and remove the liftgates to sell the bodies for storage purposes . A company I worked for needed liftgates for a new contract and saved thousands of dollars by buying used gates...

    All Types Delivery

That's interesting . I thought most carriers required trucks to be less than 6 years old . Buying a 3 year old truck for half the price of new and being able to run it 4 or 5 years seems more feasible . I want to own the truck . I don't want it to own me .

    All Types Delivery

Thanks for the info . I know most expediters swear by straight trucks but I don't know if I want to buy a new $80,000 truck every 3 years . Expediter Freightliners seem to depreciate about $15,000 a year and after 5 years who wants them ? They may be worth it to hard running teams . I'm not...

    All Types Delivery

You're right . I should have known that . I used to work for an industrial cleaning company and we'd spend 2 weeks in July and 2 weeks in December cleaning paint booths in a Toyota plant during shutdown .

    All Types Delivery

That's the one . Their website has had a new announcement every week saying it will be under construction for the next week . The recruiter claims a cube van will earn $1100 - $1500 a week but refuses to mail out any written material . When asked if there are any seasonal slowdowns he says...

    All Types Delivery

All Types had an ad in the Expediters magazine . They claim to be nidwest regional with almost daily hometime . I run the midwest and haven't seen any of their trucks . Is anybody familiar with them ?
