    Expediter Services leaving E-1

Re: Expedite Services leaving E-1 I didn't realize that E1, Fed Ex and Landstar were the only expedite companies. There are plenty more carriers they can run through imo. The market is big enough that people withbad reputationscan almost always find someone that doesn't know of them.

How do most companies figure mileage?

My company uses PCMiler, I find it's pretty **** close to what TomTom tells the steering wheel holder where to go.

    Economy must be picking up

The economy must be picking up, just picked up a load of 5 empty skids (ropack) to deliver 672 miles to SC. What I don't understand is I picked it up at a trucking company, why didn't they LTL it.

    Newbie from Nashville, TN

I've always thought that too but I constantly see ads for local drivers and the 3 people that I do know with a CDL all drive local. But it might just be my city that is the exception. But math and odds also tell me that I've been much more likely to meet local drivers who are in town...

    Texas is a dive

For some reason, I can't stop laughing. I can't decide what's funnier, the thought of you laughing to yourself while some poor guy is struggling to do his job in a foreign language or the fact that I believe you are actually going to go out and buy a paintball gun based on a joke.

You should consider getting your CDL and get a local driving job where you are home every night. You'll make garbage wages for the first year but once you get some experience mail delivery runs pay $18-23/hr and your home everyday.

Like Paullud said, I highly doubt you will be able to maintain your current lifestyle, expediting is a lifestyle of it's own. I do it because I love being on the road and I love not knowing where I am going to wake up tomorrow. I also love the challenge of getting a call @ 11 pm and having to...

Pros and cons to a permanent sleeper

well I don't think you'd ask about a permanent sleeper if you couldn't sleep sideways in a van, unless your hauling gold bricks in the last 3' feet of cargo space it would take to put a bed length wise.

vanners: what's your fav truck stop?

what if I don't want showers and I want to know where / why people buy their fuel at a location other than for shower purposes?

vanners: what's your fav truck stop?

phone posting sucks, I knew I forgot to ask a question about those that don't frequent truck stops, where do you fuel up, any gas station that is convenient or do you have a general plan that you follow?

    Vans chaining up...

    08 E350 hightop

Have you found out if it's the extended version? If it is, and you decide no cruise control is a deal breaker, I'll pay you $20 for the dealers contact info provided that it's available for sale.

    08 E350 hightop

That sounds like a great price. There is currently an 08 E350 van with 100k miles for sale in the free classifieds for $34k. Jack Berry is one of the more prominent EO posters and that is what he ran. He was happy with it and I thunk personally, I'd chose the Ford HCV over a sprinter because...

vanners: what's your fav truck stop?

Just curious what everyone's preference is and wht? From reading the locations thread it seems like Pilot/ Flying J is the most popular. I go to Pilot's mostly because out of convenience, I have a smaller fuel tank and it takes me 15 minutes on average to fuel up, so I try to maximize the #...

Pros and cons to a permanent sleeper

It's pretty simple, it doesn't matter what Turtle or xiggi say, don't invest hundreds or thousands on a permanent sleeper without going out on the road with a temporary solution. Investing thousands on a sleeper only to find out your carrier won't pay you the increased Sprinter rates because...

So you have a gun in your truck?

Could you not just keep a shotgun instead of a handgun? Personally, I'd rather be robbed than risk getting shot in an attempted robbery, I like living more than I like strangers freight and my laptop.

    August locations...

me 3 for Atlanta but I just dripped and dispatched asked if I am good to go to Florida. The 500 miles and 2 day idle afterwards will wash out idling here for a day if we get it.

    60% + fsj + unknown fleet owner

That thread is part of the reason I asked the question, people talk about the standard 60/40 split but they don't say that the fuel is advanced. For the 15th time, when you tell someone new to the industry that the driver pays the fuel, they assume it will come out if their pocket. Now that...
