The Trump Card...

Good, good:
If you do a search on YouTube, you will find numerous videos about these laser weapons, some of them several years old. There is nothing secret or new about these weapons. The inner technology may be classified, but the secret of their existence has been out for years.

The reason they are not yet widely deployed is they do not yet work. There is progress to be sure, and they are somewhat effective in certain experimental conditions. But they are not far enough along to flip the math. It is also worth noting that the US is not in the lead in this technology. Several nations are on this development path.

A True Math Flipper

There is a different development that I am glad to see that will flip the math more than these laser weapons. Look into a company named Anduril and it's founder Palmer Luckey. They are a huge and much-needed disruptor in the defense world because they operate more like a Silicon Valley tech giant than a traditional, corrupt defense contractor.

For decades, the major contractors like Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, etc, have lobbied and influenced Congress and the Pentagon to give them billions to research and develop weapons. The process takes years and routinely includes cost overruns. It has become institutionalized for contractors to put their profits ahead of development speed and war fighter support.

Anduril is different. It uses its own private money to build finished products first. They then show up to the Pentagon and say, "We have 500 of these ready to ship today." They intentionally innovate to provide products that are highly effective, can be purchased at a fraction of the cost, and can be manufactured by local US machine shops in many cases. This US company brings high tech and common sense to the table in a way that greatly threatens the good old boys who have been fleecing US taxpayers for decades.

Until recently, the good old boys have used their political power and connections to mostly shut Anduril out of the US weapons procurement chain. But because the math has become so obscene, and because Anduril is ready to deliver, the Pentagon is turning to them in a big way now. It may well be that one of the most significant and welcome casualties of this war is the traditional military industrial complex.

Anduril's innovations include cheaper, smarter drones, hundreds of which can be controlled by one operator. They also offer autonomous "wingman jet fighters. These drones are designed to fly along side crewed jets to intercept threats or carry weapons. Currently the number is 2-8 drones per human pilot. Andril is working toward 100 drones per human pilot. The human pilot is the commander, telling his swarm of drones what to do and they are networked in ways to do amazing things. The pilot does not control the drones like a drone opearator. They are autonomous. He tells them what to do or what to look for, and they do it.

These "Anduril Fury" planes (drones) are half the size of a crewed jet fighter and they can be purchased at one-fourth the cost. Old way, two planes, one being the wingman. New way, one pilot and 4 wingmen at the same price.

This is just one example. The Anduril product line is astounding. If you are unfamiliar with it, it's worth a look.

Insanity Prevails

The US has had sanction on the purchase of Russian oil for some time to hinder the funding of Russia's war against Ukraine.

Yesterday, news broke that the reason Iran has been so effective in taking out high-value US targets (radar stations, a CIA office, etc.) is Russia is using its satellites to provide Iran with targeting information.

Yesterday, Trump and Putin spoke by phone for one hour.

Yesterday, Trump lifted sanctions on India, permitting that country to again buy Russian oil without restriction. This is a double bonus for Russia because the Trump-prompted spike in oil prices means Russia gets the higher price.

Russia is helping Iran destroy prime US equipment and kill American soldiers. Trump does Putin a solid by lifting sanctions.

We're Waiting

Trump called on the Iranian people to rise to take control of their government. There has been no uprising yet.

Trump called on the Iranian police and military to surrender to "The Patriots." There are no reports of any such surrenders.

Trump spoke of unconditional surrender. Iran has not surrendered, conditionally or unconditionally.

Trump said he must have a hand in the selection of Iran's next leader. They selected their leader without Trump's involvement.

Trump claimed the Iranian navy has been "sunk" and "wiped out." Iranian fast-attack boats and submarines are still actively harassing and blocking tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump stated that the war would result in "immediate" drops in energy prices. U.S. gas prices have risen to a national average of $3.54, and oil remains nearly 33% higher than pre-war levels.

Trump claimed the U.S. would only hit "military" targets. International monitors and regional news outlets have reported significant damage to Iranian civilian infrastructure and mounting non-combatant casualties.

Trump suggested that the war is "very complete, pretty much." The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a formal statement today declaring that they—not Washington—will determine when the war ends.

A New Epstein Investigative Path

I don't follow the Epstein developments in detail so this may be old news to you. It's new to me that Epstein owned a New Mexico ranch and that site is now being investigated. Yesterday, the New Mexico Department of Justice, State Police, and the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office initiated a search of the ranch (named Zorro Ranch).

The New Mexico Epstein Truth Commission (officially the House Investigatory Subcommittee on Zorro Ranch) was established on February 16, 2026. It was created by a unanimous vote of the New Mexico House of Representatives to address "the total failure of federal and state investigations" to provide a clear record of what happened at Epstein’s 10,000-acre property over 26 years.

The Epstein Truth Commission works with the state Attorney General and the New Mexico Department of Justice, who manage the actual physical searches and potential criminal prosecutions.

Who Will American's Believe?

When Trump supporters tout momentary oil price fluctuations in the futures markets to skew the data to make Trump look good, and Americans see what they are paying at the pumps, who do you think they will believe? And what do you think they will think of those who spin with no regard for the real-world truth?

The monthly CPI (consumer price index) numbers were announced this morning. The headline inflation rate for Feb. 2026 is 2.4%, unchanged from January.

Trump started the war with Iran on Feb. 28, so the resulting fuel price surge is not included in the Feb. CPI. This provides an excellent snapshot with which to gauge the economic effects of the war when the Mar. CPI numbers are announced a month from now.

We can gain a sense now of the impact the fuel price surge has on the US inflation rate. If everything stayed the same, except fuel prices, and if current prices were used to calculate the Feb. CPI, the headline inflation rate would be rise from 2.4% to 3.2%. If the real-world secondary effects of higher fuel prices are factored in, the number is 3.4%. That's a full 1.0% increase in the CPI month over month.

In modern history, MoM (month over month) inflation rates over of 1% or higher are rare. Normally, they fluctuate between -0.1% and +0.6%, and a 0.6% change is deemed huge.

A lot can change in a month and we do not know the future. We do know the price we pay for gasoline at the pump will be slow to return to pre-war levels. Even if the warring parties declared peace today and had their press conference where the US, Israel, and Iran leaders were all smiles, it will take a while for the fuel price and supply shocks to work their way out of the system.

At present, world oil flow is down 25%. That's because some oil processing facilities have been destroyed, the Straight of Hormuz is essentially closed, precautionary oil processing site shutdowns have been made, and the oil wells are being turned off as storage sites fill. You cannot instantly un-destroy a destroyed facility when peace is declared. It takes time to restart an oil well. And the supply hole now created will take a few weeks to work its way through.

Trump sometimes says the war will end soon and sometimes suggests it will continue on. Every day it continues is bad news for each of us when we pull in to refuel our car or truck.

Repeated Kicks in the Red Hat Nuts

I live and work in a deep-red county. The area is saturated with Trump voters and many proudly wear their red hats. It has happened many times that when they talk politics, lower gas prices are quickly mentioned. They see Trump in office. They see the declining gas prices. They put two and two together (ignoring the many factors that drive fuel prices), and credit Trump for the price decline. Again, this is one of the first things they mention when they praise Trump.

Last week, that narrative not only reversed but stunned them with a huge gas-price increase. This is a metaphorical kick in their political nuts.

When they return to refuel this week, they'll see the higher price again. The easy praise point they gave Trump before has suddenly disappeared. And not only that, the change is one they viscerally feel as they see their very own money flow out of their wallet into oil company coffers.

As they return the fuel nozzle to its p;lace and see their new high cost, what will they think? In that moment, they're not watching FOX News or listening to their favorite influencer. They're looking at the shockingly high fuel price they just paid. How many times will they refuel at higher prices before they start questioning their vote and support for Trump?

They voted for no more forever wars and lower gas prices. What they have now is a major war and higher gas prices.

As evidenced here in this forum, they dont care and continue the nonsense of blaming Obama and Biden.

I wish someone could explain the hypocrisy of that.

Debunked. “Physical searches” down endless rabbit holes and finding nothing. Based on a scam email .IMG_3735.jpeg

It’s interesting to see that the Left is concerned about gas prices again after 4 years of not GAF about them.IMG_3699.jpeg

Thank you, Ragman for this link. People are constantly picking a single economic indicator like Gas prices, employment, inflation, deficit spending, etc.) and using it to give blame or credit to a president. The fact is, you will be hard-pressed to look at meaningful data over a long term and make the case the the president or party in power controls any of it. The economy is bigger than any president or party in power. It controls them more than they control it.
Oh, ok

SCOREBOARD UPDATE:

The Arkansas Flip (March 3): Alex Holladay flipped Arkansas House District 70 from Republican to Democrat. This was a 16.8 point swing in a district previously held by the GOP, marking the 27th flip of the cycle.

The score is now Democrats 27, Republicans 0
The score is now Democrats 28, Republicans 0

New Hampshire State House district 7 flipped Blue last Tuesday. In the last election the Republicans won the district by 14 points. On Tuesday, the Democrats won by 4%. This is an 18 point swing from red to blue in a district that voted red for the last 12 years. Trump carried the district by 9 points in 2024.

28 to 0. That's more than a trend. It is a universal blowout that gives us every reason to believe the Republicans are going to be DESTROYED in the mid-term elections.

Tariff Update

Following a major Supreme Court defeat last month, Trump invoked Section 122 of the 1974 Trade Act to impose a temporary 10% global tariff. These temporary tariffs expire after 150 days (July 24, 2026).

This week, 24 states sued the administration to block these new tariffs, arguing they are an illegal bypass of the Supreme Court's decision.

How easy it is for liberals to forget that the average gas price in June 2022 was over $5. But Biden was President then.
Yes. It’s true. I had to go and check because it appeared too high a price average and didn’t remember exactly, but it’s spot-on. And not a peep out of the Lefties about the high gas prices and Biden causing any of it. Crickets back then.

Intellectual Ease

It must be nice to live with the intellectual ease of a Republican. If anything makes Trump look bad, change the subject to Biden. Do nothing to deal with the issues at hand. Retreat to the past and fight a different battle in your imagination there, where you can make anything true you want to be true and you will always win.

About Those US Navy Escorts

On March 9, 2026, Trump said:

"When the time comes, the U.S. Navy and its partners will escort tankers through the strait, if needed. I hope it's not going to be needed, but if it's needed, we'll escort them right through."

International shipping companies and oil executives have been making daily requests to the U.S. Navy for military protection.

Today we read: "The U.S. Navy is not ready to escort oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, Energy Secretary Chris Wright told CNBC in an interview Thursday."

The need exists. The requests are being made. But Trump can't deliver. So the Straight remains closed and oil prices continue to rise.

There are no confirmed reports of this but based on unconfirmed chatter, I believe the Navy is telling Trump it is too dangerous to send US Navy ships into the Straight. It's a narrow straight that provides a shooting gallery to Iranian soldiers with US Navy ships as the sitting ducks. Increasingly desperate, Trump may order the Navy in, only to see many US sailors killed and maybe even US ships sunk.

Trump posted a while ago "Make Iran Great Again." I don't think giving Iran high-value, sitting-duck targets is what he had in mind.
