Hey all. Just wanted to ask if one can still get consistent loads driving with a Dodge ram ProMaster 1500 throughout the country and not just local. My funds are limited so I''m hoping to spend a little bit less if possible but still getting a decent van.
Any input would be greatly appreciated thank you

Hi, I have the same question as you. I have a 2020 Ram Promaster 1500 High roof, 136 wb, fit two pallets inside, but everybody said does not work. Of course 159 wb or extended are better, but my questions is, I can do business with that size.

No money or loads. The entire business is reemed out. Sleeping in van with cargo with no air conditioning or proper heat blows chunks. Definitely at 67 cents a mile.

The problem is this: they dont realize with the 136 wheelbase the only 2 differences between a 1500 and 2500 is the 2500 holds slightly more cargo weight and has a heavy duty suspension. This didnt used to be the case. They still think all 1500s are the 118in wheelbase which makes it impossible to carry 2 pallets. Tell them it has 122 in length cargo. I use my 2025 1500 everyday with no issues. And dont let the skeets on here poke fun. Yea the 159 2500 is better. But you dont need the heavy duty suspension in the 136in wheelbase for 2 pallets. Very rarely will you carry 3000lbs+ doing this work.

Its been awhile since many folks got their drawers in a twisted wad and took their toys elsewhere, but, if you had asked this question about your promaster a year ago, you would have had tons of answers,,,,,,,,I dont have any dog in the fight to answer your question with any experience, 0n promasters,,,all I had way back was a one ton Dodge van 3500, ..but it appears you have lots of room for freight imho....

What is the difference from buying a 159 3500 and a 1500 136? Where I live, the 3500 is cheaper because a ton of people decided they'd go start a business with no research and they're everywhere. But all local tradespeople want a 1500 136"

Just saw a 2019 3500 159 sell under $10,000 with just under 100,000 miles.

Anyway for fun I figured out my cost per mile. 16c with fuel and insurance (double what it was in 2008) and I'm not happy, just marking time until retirement - so good luck out there
