    Catch 22

Try to find an owner selling out that has a truck in White Glove and TVAL. Shouldn't be too difficult with the way freight is going right now there will be a lot of us going out of business. The trick is to but a truck already in the fleet as long as the owner isn't going to put another on with...

    Terry O`Connell (tereandrene) Update

Terry tracked us down in early December in the St. Louis area. First time meeting him, super nice guy! He looked us over restocked our supplies and took us to lunch. Saved me some money cuz FedEx wanted us to come in for an inspection just after the new year because of the age of our truck but...

    Boston area layover??

Looks like we'll be spending the night in the Boston area. Does anyone know where we can park (40' straight truck) that is truck friendly? we're in a BK parking lot right now that says "no overnight parking". We usually get out of here pretty quickly but you all know the story... I hate laying...

    Fuel filter help please

I don't want to make things any more confusing then they already are but there is one more thing to consider... fuel fungus!:( You don't see it very often, but it happens. This is a very real possibility if fuel is being purchased at a location that doesn't sell a lot of fuel. Fungus will...

    GPS for truck routes

T/A has a captive audiance!:D I use the Garmin 7200 GPS, I like it very well however it will not route H/M routing. It can be set up for truck as well as other modes of transportation. It's not perfect, none of them are, but it does keep you off the cow paths and away from low underpasses!

    Rig Master

Oh, by the way, Kohler claims their APU's are completely CARB compliant.:)

    Rig Master

I think Onan is pretty secure, they have other markets they service, ie. RV's. I just bought a Kohler 7APU I'm very pleased with. They are fairly new to the industry but they also service a larger market so I think they will withstand the crunch. At least I hope so... What does Rig...

    Your Company Doesn't Care

Interesting point, if $3.00 was the norm, what happened? My opinion, the professionalism in this industry has deteriorated to the point that we're no better than any other LTL company. Expedited used to be the elite special handling, ASAP delivery, professional shipping method. It seems latewly...

    Your Company Doesn't Care

The whole TVAL issue is kind of a sore subject with us. we were TVAL qualified, they called us to recert early in order to "break up some of the large groupings" of trucks so we went in to recert about 9 months early, on a very hot day in the middle of the summer. We couldn't pull temp fast...

    Your Company Doesn't Care

Eric you need to sharpen your pencil if your running a class 8 truck or you may well be under before you know it. There is much, much more expense to operating your business than truck payments and fuel. The .97 per mile I quote is for ALL[U] business expensesfor the year against all miles...

    Your Company Doesn't Care

I have to disagree Charles, if your company cared so much they would not continue to activly recruit new contractors. Also, they would not bid loads they expect you to run for less money than you can run them for and still make a profit.

    Your Company Doesn't Care

If you think the company your leased to care about your success as a business owner your sadly mistaken. They will continue to offer out cheap freight as long as someone will haul it and they don't care if you sink or swim. It's up to us in the industry to police ourselves, that means it's...

    Rate Cuts

Do those of you willing to run cheap freight actually know what it's costing you to run? I mean it goes far beyond the .23 or whatever a mile it costs you for fuel. I run a 33k GVW reefer truck, last year it cost me .97 a mile (thats all miles by the way, loaded and empty) to run my business...
