I don't know of any carrier that would accept a 3/4 ton. I think the standard is now at least a 1 ton.

As far as taking my chicago route......there are tons of owner/operator situations running same day otr with smaller companies near ohare. check www.chicagojobs.com , put "driver owner operator" in the search box and you will get a couple hundred posts. 75% of those jobs are for big trucks but if you look through them you will find plenty of van work......local and otr.
