Obama is a mulatto but to black America he is black. I don't care if he's green or purple. He's a socialist no matter how you color him. That is the problem, not his race or his color. As already mentioned, Thomas Sowell would have been a far better choice than this disaster that stupidity and racism elected.

WOW, such a big word to define a person with mixed race. Mulatto, I'll just bet that less than 1 % of the people ever use that word. I never knew about it until I read it here.

You say racism elected him. Well would you say that as many people voted against him because of his color? Sure they did, but most people will deny it.

He was elected by the vast numbers of people in this country that was sick and tired of the right wing radicals that had taken over Washington. Now I can only hope that these same people work as hard in 2 more years to kick out even more of the radicals from both sides of the aisle.

It's just one of many vocabulary words that were taught in school. No, I don't believe as many voted against him as for him based on race. I know some did that but doubt the racist no votes were over half of the racist yes votes. I could care less about race. I want to see actions not hear words or see colors. We've already heard the critique of his win from Russia. No doubt we'll hear more. We can only hope his crash course in "real world" over the next two months somehow alters and repairs his damaged brain and better equips him to honor the oath he will take.

Leo, if you do the math on the numbers, you'll see that the "racist yes votes" simply aren't enough to make up the spread. There simply aren't enough black people in the country to do that. A certain percentage of blacks always, always, always vote for the Democrat. The difference in those who would have voted Democratic anyway and the the number of black votes that he actually got, would surprise you. The Hispanics voted for him in numbers that were twice that of previous Democrats, but even those numbers added to the black vote isn't enough to close the spread.

Obama increased the Democratic voter percentage across the board, among whites, blacks, Hispanics, males and females. There was no category that you can point to and go, "Ah hah!". It was small, incremental gains all over the place.

The only anomaly, if it can be called one, is the first-time voters. The first-time voter percentages were nearly identical to the first-time voters of previous years (contrary to popular belief), but what was different is that instead of 55% or so of them voting Democtratic, as what usually happens, it was roughly 70%, more than tho-thirds.

Another factor that comes into play, though, is the fact that whites in America are a dwindling breed. Recently whites made up 85% of the voters, now it's 74%. They say that in 30 years whites will actually be a minority. The face of America is changing, and many of us white old farts are gonna have a real problem with that. Forget that fact that old farts don't like change in the first place, 'cause we're set in our ways and we like it that way, we see our power slipping away and there's nothing we can do about it.

this is just wrong, by saying this you make yourself no better than anyone who is willing to hrut you or your family, Racism has absolutely nothing to do with the election and the way that it should go. I am white and proud, have had many black friends in my life and friends from other ethnic backgrounds. I could care less where someone is from as long as they have morals, act right , live right and contribute to our society. There are just many white trash people out there as there are blacks that do not contribute and are a burden on society, and some of them even are in my own family. Do I accept them just because they are white? Absolutely Not

To the vast majority of the 18-29 voting crowd, and certainly to those younger than that, the white/black/hispanic issue isn't an issue. Not even a little bit. It never enters their thinking. It really and truly doesn't. That's the one crucial thing that us old farts will have to understand, and it's probably the most difficult to understand. These young kids look at us and think we're fools, same as any younger generation does. Except in this case, they're right.

It's been a long time coming, and it's got a long way to go, but eventually, we'll get there. There's no choice, it's human nature. And it's evolving right under our noses. You either adapt or die. Well, you're gonna die, anyway.

well said, Turtle! As the parent of three sons - 22, 21, 17, you have hit it exactly. And it is/will be a better world for their "blindness"! -- GracieB
