Because absolute immunity doesn’t mean absolute.
Exactly. Where does this "absolute immunity" nonsense come from anyway - MSNBC? It doesn't exist in the constitution, nor in legal precedent. The research on this subject isn't hard to find. Nobody is reaching for absolute immunity, and the idea that a POTUS could get away with ordering a hit man to take out his rival is absurd.

"Throughout the Watergate investigation, it was unclear whether the President could be subject to criminal prosecution prior to being convicted upon impeachment.7 The Court, however, resolved that courts may require the President to testify or produce documents in criminal proceedings.8...
Specifically, Chief Justice Marshall declared that, in contrast to common law privileges afforded the King of England, the President was not exempt from the general provisions of the constitution, like the Sixth Amendment, which provides the defense compulsory process.10

Nonetheless, Chief Justice Marshall recognized that while the President could be subject to a criminal subpoena, the President could still withhold information from disclosure based on executive privilege.11 In the two centuries since the Burr trial, the Executive Branch’s practices12 and Supreme Court rulings unequivocally and emphatically endorsed Chief Justice Marshall’s position that the President was subject to federal criminal process.13

Great filing by Trump’s team. I concur.
Can’t wait to hear what counter arguments the prosecution attempts to twist into a pretzel.

Please tell me that you didn't waste an hour and eight minutes of your life - that you will never get back - listening to some MAGA Twatwaffle™ - who looks suspicously like a grownup Eddie Munster - babble on about his theories on the legal travails of his object of affection ...

Easy:

From the Orange Loon and Con Man™ that some have been duped into voting for several times.

:joycat:

Precisely.

And yet, Dementia Donnie™'s Lawyers argued that it was indeed ... a thing.

Listened to it twice. He went word for word in the filing. Brilliant filing, btw.

Yep, MSNBC. That’s where the Left goes to get their misinformation.

So Trump and any business in the state of New York should be allowed to base their entire business on fraud?

The only thing that might tick me off about this whole situation is if she does not go after everyone else who does the same thing, she needs to send a message to business people everywhere, if you want to do business in New York, you WILL do it by the book.
Oh she’s going after other businesses alright. Driving businesses out of NY one cow fart at a time.

Referencing the Constitution, Supreme Court rulings, and the Federalist writings is not bs.

So you have a problem with her forcing businesses to operate according to the law?
Some MAGA people and/or Trump supporters will say they don't have a problem making Trump follow the law. They have a problem with the law being unfairly applied.

Frankly, I do too. If no one is above the law, it should be equally enforced for everyone. That does not give Trump a free pass. No one should have a free pass.

Has Senator Menendez been expelled or forced to resign yet?
Didn’t think so. Hypocrisy rules…
The situation is complicated by the facts that: A.) A 2/3 majority vote is required to expel a US senator. B.) Menendez has refused to resign despite calls by a number of his Democratic colleagues to do so. C.) A number of Republican senators have not called for Menendez's resignation. They are instead saying Menendez should have his day in court.

Even if every Democratic senator voted to expel Menendez, he would likely survive the vote because enough Republicans would vote to retain him.

Personally, I think Menendez should have resigned long ago.
